We had an incredible meaningful and empowering morning yesterday, as members from the Young Women's Board packed over 50 comfort bags to benefit families affected by the Highland Park 4th of July shooting. These bags will go to people seeking services from Family Focus, an organization dedicated to serving struggling families in Chicago. We couldn't be prouder to have such caring and committed women on our board. ❤️

MEET THE NEW LOJE CHAIR: Tracy Madansky
By Ron Krit | Assistant Vice President, Endowment Development, Legacies and Endowments

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH JUF?
I started giving when I was in college. After I graduated from law school, I attended Young Leadership Division events. I was really inspired by Larry Dobkin; he was an incredible person, and I eventually joined the Board. From there, I progressed to the Young Women’s Board. JUF also helped me take visiting Israel off my bucket list! I wanted to find a women’s trip, and when I heard about the JUF Women’s Mission in 2018, it was perfect timing. The trip
re-ignited my interest in getting involved in JUF again. I was particularly impressed by our visits to United Hatzalah and with the young Orthodox women preparing to join the army. It was an amazing experience.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JEWISH JOURNEY.
It really started with my dad. He was always involved with our synagogue, and my sisters and I went to services with him every Shabbos. I grew up going to minyan. I joined NCSY in high school and it was so impactful. That was really the beginning of my love for Judaism. Becoming president of the youth group had a profound effect on me and kept me doing Jewish activities.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I really enjoy working with nonprofits. Aside from serving on the Women’s Board, I love being a trustee of the Jewish Women’s Foundation; it’s been a great experience. I’m involved with AIPAC, Court Watch for Domestic Violence, and with COVID I’ve done a lot of work for tenant advocacy. The Rolfe Foundation is an important part of my volunteering. I lost both of my parents, way too soon,
from pancreatic cancer, so that will always be part of my philanthropy.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A LOJE?
Shari Greco Reiches has been a great mentor to me, and she approached me about becoming a LOJE. I’m lucky enough to be in a situation to help others, and when I learned I could make an endowment gift through my Will, it was a no-brainer. It’s an easy gift to make, and it will be paid when I’m gone. Making an endowment gift is also a great example for my children. Being involved in the community is important to me, and this helps cement my Jewish commitment. I’m incredibly thankful that I’m able to leave a legacy to JUF.

Keep the Flame Alive- A LOJE lights the way for your family and community, helping to illuminate Jewish life well into the future and burning bright for all who are in need.
Endow your gift and create your Jewish Legacy.

Concern for the children can be both a reason to stay and a reason to leave. Survivors may want their children to live in a two parent home, but living with an abusive partner impacts everyone in the home. Leaving also brings fear of losing custody. We've had a fun-filled holiday season thanks to our dedicated and community friends! We were happy to share "Mugs of Love" from Jewish United Fund of Chicago - JUF's Young Families/PJ Library Chicago program with Robineau residents and gift bags from the JUF Women's Philanthropy Women's Board with our Adult Day Services clients.

In addition, we stuffed holiday gift bags for residents in CJE's communities with goodies—menorahs, sweet treats, holiday wishes, prayers, songs, and recipes (translated in Russian) along with beautiful Chanukah cards from Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie!

Thanks JUF Women's Philanthropy for building greater awareness of domestic abuse. We need the whole community to break the cycle.
