#DailyRap Today began at 8:30am at Swedish Hospital where the leadership team presented their vision for future programs and community building through their new agreement with NorthShore University HealthSystem. It was a really great event where so many community leaders were able to network and find ways to partner. Shout out to Alderwoman Sam Nugent and Staff from Ald. Rossana Rodriguez, Alderman James Cappleman, and a special shout out to former Ald. Gene Schulter! Next I made a pit stop at the office before heading to Coffee with Commander McCrudden of the 20th District. The Commander had been in the district for a few months and has really done an amazing job of ensuring that the department hasn’t missed a beat, no pun intended. The event was hosted by @Ivan Reséndiz at VPT and organized by Mimi Acciari, Executive Director of the Lincoln Bend Chamber! Shout out to City Grange, Julianna's Restaurant, Black Sheep, and many other businesses that were represented! After that we headed back to the ward office for a meeting with the team from the city’s Bureau of Electricity to discuss streetlights. I made sure to get realistic expectations for completion times, as the 311 system does not reflect the actual turnaround time for various issues. We also escalated some issues that neighbors had brought to our attention. There seemed to be a light at the other end of the tunnel once the smart lighting is implements and the team is better staffed in the next 6 months. Ok, that earlier pun was intended. I then had a media interview to discuss gentrification and the value of access to the river followed by a call in interview with Chicago legend Joan Esposito in WCPT 820 - Chicago's Progressive Talk Radio! We talked about all things Chicago! Check it out! As a team, we discussed the new job description for our Director of Policy and Development role so that we can set goals and deliverables over the next year. I finished the day by catching up on emails in preparation for tomorrow, which will be another full one! #AldermanAndre #40thWard
