A morning of café y conexiones!

Thank you to the Little Village Library Branch for hosting us at Café y Conexiones this past week and bringing our community together! Two of our intern Compañerxs, Monica and Gustavo, enjoyed connecting with neighbors while sharing more about Taller de José’s services.

TDJ was excited to welcome the The Br. David Darst Center and their 8th grade retreat group!

Students learned about the complexities of immigration, how TDJ responds to the evolving needs of our community, and even put their civics knowledge to the test by taking a shot at the U.S. civics exam themselves! 🇺🇸📚

Thank you for spending the day with us and learning more about our work!

For Alejandra, returning to her alma mater, Hubbard High School, was more than a tabling event.

Read her blog post about returning to where it all began and the support she once wished her family had.

Returning to Hubbard High School as a Taller de José Program Coordinator brings a full-circle moment, reflecting on family, community, growth, and the power of accompaniment.

This month, we celebrate the vibrant cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions that make our communities and Chicago so special.

We’re grateful for the strength, resilience, and richness our neighbors bring to our city. It’s a joy to walk alongside one another and build a stronger, more connected community.
