:📣 Important Announcement! Applications are NOW OPEN for the Spring 2027 Miss Major Cohort of One Roof Chicago’s Bridge Project Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Pathway.

ℹ️ This workforce development initiative supports TQIALGB+ young adults ages 18–24 with CNA/BNA (Basic Nursing Assistant) training, enrollment navigation, career preparation, supportive resources, and a pathway into healthcare employment. : Happy Hump Day, One Roof Chicago Friends!

Join us for "Lunch & Learn: Home Health versus Home Care" next Wednesday, July 8, at 11:30am, hosted by community partner Center on Halsted and Soulful Hands Home Care. This program is open to the public and free of charge. No registration required.

You'll leave with valuable knowledge and insights on the following:

➡ Key differences in services, qualifications, and goals between home health and home care — and how those differences might impact an individual's or family’s decision

➡ How insurance coverage, Medicare/Medicaid, and out-of-pocket costs typically differ between home health and home care services

➡ In what situations a person might transition from home health to home care, or vice versa, and how individuals and families can prepare for that change

Congrats to our very own .thecareplan, One Roof Chicago Co-Founder & Board Member, on being selected as a Magazine 2026 Power List honoree. This esteemed list celebrates LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary individuals in North America who are blazing trails in their chosen fields. From sports and entertainment icons to corporate leaders and lawmakers- and everything in between- these individuals are breaking barriers, challenging norms, and shaping the future. One Roof Chicago’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program prepares participants with the practical, hands-on skills needed to enter a growing healthcare field, providing direct care and support to patients in clinical and long-term care settings.

This program is tuition free and designed for LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults who are interested in building a career in healthcare, patient support, and direct service.

Our Summer 2026 cohort —The Audre Lorde Cohort— is named in honor of a legacy rooted in care, truth-telling, and the understanding that our well-being is tied to how we show up for ourselves and each other. This cohort will move through the program with a shared commitment to growth, dignity, and community.

: Happy Juneteenth, One Roof Chicago Friends!

Juneteenth is an historic celebration for Black Americans' hard-won emancipation and fight for human rights. June 19, 1865 commemorates the ending of legalized institution of chattel slavery in the United States. Thanks to decades-long education and activism by Ms. Opal Lee, the "Grandmother of Juneteenth," and many others, Juneteenth was designated a federal holiday in 2021.

This designation offers Americans of all backgrounds the opportunity to pause, reflect, and celebrate together the progress toward unity. Although liberty and justice are espoused American values, as is the victory of emancipation, the fight for liberation is far from over.

During these painful times in our country and around the world, let us remember that progress always meets backlash, and freedom ain't free. Today, we celebrate and tomorrow, we persist in making good trouble.
