Check out one of the events we helped fund:
“What is the work we make for ourselves and for each other? Artists Ato Ribeiro (@ilaama99) & Conrad Egyir (@conrad_egyir) have been in a conversation with each other since meeting as students at Cranbrook Academy of Art’s MFA program. Their practice is in dialogue through their ancestral visual traditions and interdisciplinary art making methods. Over the summer they presented a two-person exhibition ‘Every Time I Try To Get a Peace of Mind’ (@anastasiatinariprojects) in Chicago with new works rooted in new possibility and mediation on the creative process. Join us via Zoom on Friday October 29 from 6:00-7:00 pm CST as Ato Ribeiro and Conrad Egyir speak about their practice.

But it would be remiss of me to not mention my baby son, Captain Pancakes. He clearly is my favorite animal (@captainpancakesthecat). "My favorite time of day is dawn, it's when the world is the quietest and I enjoy watching the sunrise. My favorite animal currently is a chick, I saw the newborn hatchlings at the Museum of Science and Industry recently and I can't stop thinking about how tiny they are!! The best piece of advice I've been given is to "live in the present". Cliché, I know, but I tend to get stuck on the past or worry too much about the future so it's a good reminder to stay in the moment."

To those who attended the Stan Squirewell lecture of February 4th;

We on the Student Government sincerely apologize for the unflattering content that was presented at this lecture. Specifically, we apologize for the bigotry and repudiation of narratives of Indigenous peoples. SAICSG was not aware of the majority of the content that was being presented beforehand.

Moving forward for any other artist talks/etc. that SAICSG will be holding, we will strive to more thoroughly review any potential candidates. It is always our intention to carefully curate the type of work and people that we bring into our spaces. SAICSG is always open to any feedback in regards to this process and we invite you to share in dialogue with us and offering recommendations for future programs. We look forward to providing the SAIC community with more appropriate and engaging lectures in the future and continually look forward to engaging with our fellow SAIC community
