Registration is now open for the annual Bloomingdale Trail Run on Saturday, September 26! It’s a fun, family-friendly event with a timed 5k and 1/4-mile and 1/2-mile dashes for young runners. Use code -- 1STWARD26SAVE10 -- for $10 off. The event is produced by Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail, McCormick YMCA, and the Chicago Park District. 🚨 CDOT will be presenting plans, reviewing the timeline, gathering feedback, and answering questions on a series of pedestrian improvements along Chicago Ave between Ashland and California at a community town hall on Monday, Aug. 17, from 6-7:30 PM at the Ukrainian Cultural Center (2247 W. Chicago).

While only a small section of this project is in the 1st Ward, residents are invited to attend to learn more!

Heavy rain is expected in the Chicago area today. Reduce your use of water during and after the storm to help prevent flooding and protect water quality:

• Delay showers and baths
• Flush less frequently
• Wait to run the dishwasher or washing machine

Flooding and sewer backups can happen for a variety of reasons. To help prevent flooding inside or around your home, there are actions you and your family can take before and during rainfall.
