FC Pyunik defeated Slovan Bratislava 2-0 in the Europa Conference League with an impressive showing against the Slovakian outfit. The triumph marked the first victory of an Armenian club in European competition.
The scoring was opened by Armenian national team midfielder Artak Dashyan in the 35th minute followed by Nigerian Yusuf Otubanjo.
FC Pyunik’s Orubanjo stole the headlines after scoring when he revealed a shirt depicting “Stand With Armenia .” Otubanjo has been in Armenia since 2020, when he joined FC Ararat-Armenia.
Slovan Bratislava’s Armenian international Tigran Barseghyan was not enough as the Armenian side currently sits 2nd on the Group H standings.

Following its popular nationwide PBS premiere in hundreds of US cities last month, The Hidden Map, a gripping documentary that takes viewers deep into the forbidden Armenian past of Turkey, has been scheduled to air four more times this month in New Jersey & New York, the #1 public television market in the nation. The Hidden Map, which took four trips & 7 years to complete, was directed, produced, written & edited by Ani Hovannisian. It is one of few Armenian films ever to be distributed nationally on PBS. The Hidden Map will air in New Jersey & New York on July 10, 14 and 16. This is an unprecedented moment in history when, by watching and supporting, we can easily help bring this Armenian & human story into the homes & consciousness of millions of Americans.

My most recent report in regard to Armenian communities was about the enclaves of the greater Boston area. On the way to Boston, I had a five-hour layover in Chicago. I took advantage of the stop by arranging to meet with Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Armenia, Oscar Tatօsian.
THE ATTEMPT, a short film written and directed by Santa Monica College film production student Daniel Despart, screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 23.
The film is set in 1921 post-World War I Berlin and is based on the true story of Soghomon Tehlirian, who is given the mission to assassinate the chief orchestrator of the Armenian Genocide. The young man realizes that killing another man is not easy and contemplates starting a new life with the woman he loves.
The film stars Ara Woland as Soghomon Tehlirian, Anne Bedian as Mrs. Anne Torosyan, Paul Chepikian as Talaat Pasha, and Mariam Vardanyan as Soghomon Tehlirian's mother.
THE ATTEMPT won Best Student Film at the 2020 Vienna Independent Film Festival.
