Optional soil testing/ collection SAT. NOV. 2, 2024 10AM - 1PM
1. Gardeners (members only) who want their soil tested will pay $13.00 (cash or check) to NPVGC on Nov 2.
(NPVGC will pay AUA rep full amount.)
2. Collect soil as directed on Nov 2 or BEFORE.
Note: we will not dig the sample for you!
Recommended sample size is 1-2 cups.
3. Soil sample should be DRY. No roots, rocks or leaves.
4. Representative will label soil and send to lab.
5. If you cannot submit your sample in person on Nov 2, please
have someone drop it off and pay for you.
6. NO LATE OR EARLY SUBMISSIONS.

Don't cut back these perennials:
Coneflowers
Ornamental Grasses

Cut back these perennials (after a hard frost):
Hostas (near crown)
Lilies (near soil line when stems turn yellow/red)
Daylilies (a few inches above the soil)
Peonies (a few inches above the soil)
Bee Balm (down to soil to discourage mildew: do not compost)
Iris (trim leaves at an angle to center peak 6-8 inches)
