Help Alas de Colombia, one of our incredible butterfly suppliers, rebuild following the Colombia earthquake 🦋💕

Alas de Colombia is the country’s first butterfly farm to export chrysalis internationally, allowing butterfly houses around the world to showcase their beautiful species. This multi-family cooperative is made up of many individuals - mostly women - who raise thousands of butterflies every year. Many of the unique species we host at The Butterfly House, which visitors learn from and interact with every day, come from this farm.

On August 10th, Vanessa Restrepo, Alas de Colombia’s founder, lost her home and the organization’s office in the Colombian earthquake. If you are able, please consider donating to Vanessa and Alas de Colombia through the link in our bio so they may recover and continue supporting women and families in the region. All funds raised will go towards rebuilding not just Vanessa’s life, but those of the many people who depend on Alas de Colombia to survive. ❤️

Enjoy a morning of magic with a sound bath and meditative watercolor practice as butterflies dance around you at the Butterfly House at Navy Pier! 🦋✨️

In this gathering, we harness the power of sound, vibration, breath, and art to relax, connect with our bodies, cultivate presence in heart and mind, and explore our natural flow state.

We'll begin with a sound bath led by Heidi Kohz Heidi Kohz — resonant crystal bowls, tinkling chimes, and breath — while butterflies flutter through the air around us. Some may rest on your shoulder or a hand.

After the sound bath, we'll ground our experience with a meditative watercolor session led by artist Tai Kojro-Badziak .studios, capturing the energy of the morning. No experience necessary — just brush, water, and pigment moving as slowly as your breath. Let color settle the way the butterflies do: unhurried, unbidden, exactly where it wants to land.

You'll leave rested, rejuvenated and energized!

Wear comfortable clothes and bring a chair, yoga mat, or other pad to sit or lie on; the Butterfly House has a crushed gravel pathway we will be lying on. All art supplies will be provided, but you're welcome to bring a sketchbook or your own materials if you're inspired 🎨

A Glasswing butterfly fluttering its stunning transparent wings to get a better grip on the blossom it's feeding from! 🌸🦋 This butterfly is truly one of the most incredible species we've had yet!

Visit us any time THIS WEEK to experience 1200+ live butterflies in The Butterfly House at Navy Pier!! This is the largest concentration of butterflies we've had in 3 years, and an amazing opportunity for an interactive nature experience 💕

A little behind-the-scenes footage of our Pupa Hut which is positively BURSTING with butterflies!!! In our 3 years of operation, this is the HIGHEST DENSITY of butterflies we've ever experienced!

We'll be doing daily butterfly releases with over 100 butterflies each as they emerge 🎉🦋 Come visit us for our "Butterfly Bonanza" this week and the next to experience over a thousand butterflies in our garden enclosure at once!
