Consul General hoisted the national flag at the Consulate to mark India’s 80th Independence Day. The Hon’ble President’s address to the nation was read, reaffirming democracy, unity, progress and national pride. A cultural programme celebrating 150 years of Vande Mataram followed, with the group singing of national song and national anthem. Certificates and prizes were presented to winners of the Viksit Bharat 2047 painting competition, My India My Story, and Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz. Indian diaspora members and community leaders attended, reflecting unity and pride in India’s heritage.

The Consulate hosted a memorable 80th Independence Day Reception at the historic Chicago Cultural Center, bringing together over 300 distinguished guests—including members of the Consular Corps, elected officials, community leaders, friends of India, academia, and media.
The celebration came alive with a Bharatanatyam performance to India’s timeless national song, “Vande Mataram,” beautifully capturing the nation’s enduring spirit of unity, pride, heritage, and patriotism.
