The classes that fulfill the Irish Studies minor range across a variety of departments, and many of the required courses can be used to fulfill Liberal Arts requirements. Please join us a week from today (Thursday 4/19) for our event "The Good Friday Agreement at 20: Achievements, Opportunities, and Challenges for the People of Northern Ireland". We are excited to hear from our featured guest speakers Mr. John Saville, consul general of the United Kingdom in Chicago and Mr. Brian O'Brien, consul general of Ireland in Chicago. The event will take place in Arts and Letters Hall room 103 from 5:30-6:30 pm. We hope to see you all there!

Very grateful for the Consul-General's invitation to participate in a fascinating event in one of Chicago's most beautiful settings. Turtle Bunbury, with a new book on 1847 just out, returns to Chicago for iBAM at the Irish-American Heritage Center in October -- well worth a look!

Armagh, Northern Ireland - Study Aborad

There's a great new opportunity this summer for all those with an interest in Irish Studies! Sponsored by the University of Jamestown and The Institute for Education in International Media, the program takes place in Armagh, Northern Ireland and provides learning opportunities in the journalism field. Classes are held at the AmmA center, and the course runs from July 3rd to Aug 2nd. This course can provide academic credit from it's partner universities, and includes field trips to Writer's Center in Dublin, and sites in Belfast and other local trips. The application deadline for this opportunity is coming up on February 15th so act fast!
