EverThrive Illinois EverThrive Illinois works to improve the health of women, children, and families over the lifespan. Over the past 30 years, EverThrive Illinois has worked to improve the health of women, children, and families over the lifespan.

Since our inception we have emerged as a leader in engaging consumers and providers to inform policy and programs, and our commitment to health equity, diverse voices, and strong partnerships continue to anchor our work. We are dedicated to achieving health equity for women, children, and families by:
• advancing access to comprehensive health care and support services;
• improving the health outcomes of entire communities and populations; and
• engaging community to inform decision-making, build capacity, and build relationships. By aligning our programmatic, policy and advocacy, and community engagement activities with these three primary impact areas, we can improve the health of women, children, and families. Statement on the Atlanta Shooting

An attack on anyone is an attack on the very fiber that weaves us all together. Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives, lost loved ones, and lost their sense of safety following the shootings across Atlanta last night, which brought immense fear and pain for all of us, but especially Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander women. We see you and we mourn with you.

Words contain multitudes and can wield a lot of power. This loss feels heavier as AAIP members of our communities have faced increased violence and report more hate crimes as a result of racist rhetoric during the pandemic.

Doulas and postpartum home visits may be covered under Medicaid in new Illinois proposal

"Durand said the weekly calls with her doula helped her feel supported, especially as a full-time student juggling classes, pregnancy and work.

'She always let me know that she’s proud of me and what I’m doing, and that I’m a very strong woman,' she said. 'I really love that, because sometimes you just need to hear that.'"

Doulas support birthing parents, detect medical needs before they become emergencies, and support safer pregnancies. It's time to cover their services for every birth in Illinois.

A new bill in Illinois would allow doulas to be covered under Medicaid, which experts say would help protect women and address health disparities.

EverThrive and partners are working with Rep. LaToya Greenwood to pass HB354 which requires perinatal doula and home visiting services to be a covered benefit under Medicaid. These services improve birth outcomes and can be the difference between life and death for mom and baby, so it is our goal to make these services accessible to everyone.
