Red tape makes it hard for entrepreneurs to put their best foot forward, even when wearing handmade shoes! Sara, who started the Chicago School of Shoemaking in Lakeview to teach leather crafts and shoemaking, shares this example: “We tried for months to obtain a sign for our business! After discovering how complicated and expensive the permit process is, we eventually gave up. Chicago businesses would greatly benefit from having a simpler process to obtain a sign or awning, as well as an option for sidewalk signs.” We’re excited that #ChiBizStrong includes provisions that cut red tape like the complex, lengthy process for sign permits.

Katherine Anne Confections is an artisan sweets company based in Logan Square that sells organic-focused truffles, caramels, and chocolates. Katherine supports the #ChiBizStrong proposal to legalize sidewalk signs like sandwich boards. “Complicated procedures and barriers to putting out simple signs prevent businesses from growing or advertising their products. If sandwich signs were legal, I would be able to advertise my chocolates right outside my shop so customers on the sidewalk could check us out!” - Katherine

All you need is love, some chocolate, and signage reform. Ask your Alderman to support the signage reform in the Chi Biz Strong initiative!

29TH WARD PARTICIPATORY BUDGET Next Community Meeting, via Zoom, https://uic.zoom.us/j/96147239006?pwd=OGNyUzJzemxGN0t1STNOL3J2VWROZz09 Wednesday, September 9, 2020, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., PB Chicago gives residents of city wards the power to decide how to spend $1 million each in their neighborhoods, on items funded by aldermanic infrastructure "menu money", including park improvements, sidewalk and repair, lighting and signage, public art, and beautification. PB Chicago is coordinated out of UIC's Great Cities Institute as part of the Neighborhood Initiative.
So, now that your radical Leftist politician's have jumped on the DEFUND THE POLICE band wagon let me make some things clear for you. 1) No one in my family will ever visit your city again for any reason. 2) There are major trucking company's and Unions that will not deliver to city's that are defunding the Police. 3) your crime rate will skyrocket not only for this but for turning Austin into Seattle and Portland. 4) Tourism will die due to this. Some facts you my not understand: A) Terrorism is defined as causing property damage, violence or murder to change public perception or political policy. Antifa is a Communist terrorist organization. BLM is a Marxist terrorist organization . Bless your Co**ie Hearts. Defend the Police, Hey Blue, Green has your six.
