I had a great time joining the Chesterfield Community Council for their monthly meeting!

It was a wonderful opportunity to share important legislative updates from Springfield, listen to neighborhood concerns, and discuss how my office can continue to support and deliver resources the residents of my community. I love to show my community that I remain dedicated to serving and fighting for the people.

A special thank you to Chairman Eli Washington for inviting me to speak with the council members. In 2027, the Chesterfield Community Council will celebrate an incredible milestone—75 years of working together to strengthen, uplift, and better their neighborhood. That level of dedication and leadership is what makes our community thrive.

I’m thankful to God that this year marks my 20th year as a 𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓻 𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓿𝓸𝓻, so of course this cause is deeply personal to me.

I am truly honored to serve as the keynote speaker for this meaningful event as we bring our community together to stand with fighters, celebrate survivors, encourage early detection, and champion breast cancer awareness.

Last night I had an incredible time engaging with students at Northeastern University in Dr. Gaylon Alcaraz’s class, Advocacy for Social Justice in Illinois.

We dove deep into the power of civic responsibility, the necessity and the variety of ways of taking ACTION, and why using your voice in every way possible is vital.

Investing in and pouring into our next generation of leaders is how real, lasting improvement happens. I encouraged them to Advocate now, Advocate tomorrow and demand results!!

Civic responsibility starts with education, action, and leading by example—at the local, state, and federal levels. We have all seen the power of what happens when we use our voice and our vote, and the consequences when we don’t.

I had the honor of speaking at Olive-Harvey's Law in Society Association’s (L.I.S.A.) Voter Registration and Education Event. A heartfelt thank you to Calvin Willis, President of L.I.S.A., and Dr. Ronald Nolen, Facilitator, for inviting me to share knowledge with the next generation of leaders.

This past Saturday, I stopped by the Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) Windy City Housing Fair and Expo in my district at South Shore High School. A special thank you to Sonia Arciniega, NHS Director of Community Engagement for the invitation to come out and support.

As a State Representative and real estate appraiser, expanding access to stable housing and protecting homeownership on the South Side of Chicago are top priorities for me. Events like this equip current homeowners, prospective buyers, and renters with vital safety education and actionable resources.

Thank you to the entire NHS team for your dedicated work to expand homeownership opportunities and strengthen our community on the South Side of Chicago.

The 33rd District Office was proud to be represented recently at the Chase Literacy Center’s 2nd Annual Family Literacy Open House in South Shore.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Kimberly Chase, Founder and Director of the Chase Literacy Center, for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful event and support the advancement of literacy in our community.

As a community we need to stress to our children the importance of education (𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴, 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴, 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺). Today still in 2026 too many children are illiterate and too many young adults lack education, particularly in the black community.

School teachers do the lion share but they can NOT do it all, we need programs like this to help parents with strategies and stand in the gap when parents are incapable. Investing in literacy initiatives strengthens families, empowers our youth, and helps build a stronger community.

The 5K Torch Trail brings together alumni, students, families, staff, and community supporters to raise funds that support CVS and its athletic programs.

The arts and culture sector is a vital economic engine, a cornerstone of community identity, and an essential part of public policy.

As President of the National Conference of State Legislatures Foundation, it was a pleasure to meet with national leaders from Americans for the Arts to discuss key priorities and legislative avenues to sustain and elevate arts and culture nationwide. Special thanks to Alyssa Fisher (Chief Government Affairs Officer), Jay Dick (Senior Director of Advocacy and Partnerships), and Toosher Swain (Senior Director of Public Policy) for their dedication and insightful perspectives.

Sports officials and coaches of Chicago Public Schools are some of the most supportive, caring and dedicated community servants of Chicago. They mentor and support our kids beyond their teams, and as a sports official myself I see it up close.

Devon Morales, Sr. the cousin of Chicago Mayor's Office and Executive Director of the Office of Sports Administration for CPS believes he can abuse, intimidate and extort these individuals. Recently, Mr. Morales intentionally held up payment for officials/coaches and has a pattern of abusive behavior.

Many of the officials and coaches are unable to speak up because of concern for retaliation. I am calling for CPS and the Mayor to immediately fire Mr. Morales for his recent actions and conduct an investigation to substantiate other abuse allegations.

The Mayor can place his cousin in another $300,000 position because the coaches and officials of Chicago just want to work and enjoy their advocation.
