Chicago Fire Department Engine 18 was organized in 1872. Also a location (Station 51) for NBC show Chicago Fire. Chicago Fire Department Engine 18 was the first company organized after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Engine 18 resided at Roosevelt and May from 1872 until it moved to its new quarters in 2008. Engine 18 has since become a filming location for NBCs Chicago Fire Station 51. (Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61) Engine 18 is rich in History and protects 2 pre-Great Chicago Fire Landmarks. Holy Family Church and St. Ignatius Prep. Engine 18 proudly protects their great neighbors of the Near West Side, Pilsen, and the legendary Taylor Street.

It’s been a week and there were some good guesses .. but if you guessed the Top photo is Engine18, YOU ARE RIGHT!! But FYI even though it’s a prop, there is a fire pole at both locations .. union calendar is a prop as well.. if you notice they cover up the month and year. Even the bench and corn hole boxes are props..

Chicago Firefighters Surprise Kids in Hospitals With Holiday Gifts
Engine 18 and Ambo 65 along with TL 5 helped out Ignite the Spirit hand out toys to the young ones at Rush hospital.
Chicago firefighters delivered hundreds of gifts to young patients at city hospitals for the holidays.

It is my sad duty to announce another member of the CFD has died from complications of COVID-19. Firefighter Edward Singleton age 55, passed way last night. He was assigned to Midway Airport. He leaves a wife and two adult children. He joined CFD in 1987.
