Sweet Home Chicago! Last week, LBFE staff, volunteers, and a group of older adults visited the Chicago History Museum. It was a great opportunity to learn about the city’s history – and even sing and dance to some blues!
Older adults and volunteers came together at LBFE on February 10 to celebrate birthdays with lunch, cake, balloons – and good company.
And yes, dancing! Lots of dancing!
At Saturday's Winter Celebration, older adults and volunteers danced along with Flor de Corazon, a folkloric dance group that is affiliated with the Cicero-based Flor de Corazon Dance Studio. The party was on!
TRANSPORTATION + FRIENDS = CONNECTION
Thank you to our donors for helping us take one step closer to purchasing our first electric vehicle! Our cars and vans are used by volunteers and make a real difference in the lives of the older adults we serve.
This video, created by volunteer Mehdi Bouhadjeb, shows just one of thousands of connections a year made with the help of our LBFE vehicles. Thank you, and enjoy this fun glimpse into Ramona and Marine’s friendship.

Neenah Ellis was speaking with our elders
Neenah Ellis was speaking with our elders Terry, Faylene, and Leslie as well as Visiting Volunteer Mary and Phone Visitor Adam for the panel: Elders in Conversation: How we Live and Thrive. The older adults we serve are at the center of every conversation. As we say at LBFE, we learn about life from those who’ve lived it. It was a lively discussion!

End Loneliness Symposium 2023
This is our Party Room, where elders celebrate and connect with friends. As you can see, it is transformed for today’s End Loneliness Symposium. We’re so excited to gather here for the End Loneliness Symposium and explore the impact of creativity to reduce loneliness and improve health in the lives of older adults. #EndLonelinessNow
Our elders are savoring every day of summer, thanks to help from our volunteers and donors! We hope your weekend is as relaxing and joyful as this afternoon at Audrey's House was for our elders.
LBFE's offices will close at 2:30 today in observance of the holiday. Our staff will return on Tuesday, 9/6. Have a wonderful weekend!
Elders and volunteers celebrated at the Summer Picnic Luncheon, where they shared conversation with friends and enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Fight2Feed and great music by the Brother John Trio.
As you can see, there was lots of dancing and great energy all around!
