The Student Food Pantry seeks donations of non-perishable items and personal hygiene products. These donations are a collaborative effort among NEIU faculty, staff, and students. To learn more about the Student Food Pantry, how to donate, and/or how to volunteer, contact [email protected]. SUMMER 2016 HOURS OF OPERATION

The Student Food Pantry will reopen for the summer beginning Monday, May 23 in B 140. The Summer hours of operation are Mondays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. What can you Donate? High Demand Items (make a big impact with your donation):

Peanut butter
Granola bars
Canned soup
Rice
Baby food/formula
Diapers
Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste)
Paper goods (toilet paper, tissue)
Reusable grocery bags
Food Items:
Beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, chili, jelly, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, soup, stew, rice, tuna, etc. Non-food Items:
Personal hygiene products, diapers, facial tissue, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, etc. We do not accept the following items:

Opened of partially used items, including cans, bottles, and dried goods,products not in their original packaging, products with no ingredient information labels, homemade or home-canned products, products that have been contaminated, alcoholic beverages or energy drinks of any kind, expired products, pet food, clothing, cleaning supplies, toys. And for the first time, we are offering FRESH MEAT to visitors. We are starting off with chicken drumsticks and pork chops.

The last day of getting food from the pantry is this Thursday, December 10th. Afterwards, the pantry will be closed until Monday, January 11th, 2021.

Thanks to the work of the Northeastern Illinois University Alumni Association, University Professionals of Illinois chapter at NEIU, and many other members of the NEIU community, the pantry has several more items available to give to students.

We appreciate all the support in helping students combat food insecurity.

We are bringing back our Drive-Thru Drop-Off food drive at the Alumni Center in support of World Food Day! This Thursday, 10/15, drop off items to support the NEIU Student Food Pantry at the Alumni Center from 11 am to 2 pm.

With NEIU being closed on Labor Day, the pantry will not be open on Sept. 7th. It will re-open on September 10th. Have a great weekend!

Monday, July 27th is our next Drive-thru Drop-Off event. The food drive supporting the NEIU Student Food Pantry takes place at the Alumni Center (located in Parking Lot D) from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Thank you to everyone that was able to donate today. All together, we received approximately 67 pounds in boxed & canned goods, water, and toiletries. Everything helps in supporting students struggling with food insecurity and persist with their college careers.

We appreciate all the support and the drive from the Northeastern Illinois University Alumni Association.

Many thanks to the Northeastern Illinois University Alumni Association for hosting today's food drive. Thanks to those that have donated, the Student Pantry has received 130.64 pounds of food. This will help current students tremendously in receiving food assistance.

A message from Common Pantry:

"Common Pantry has expanded its home delivery program to accommodate those at a greater risk of Covid-19. They have been able to offer emergency one time home deliveries to those in need on the northside of the city, as well as connect eligible seniors to the city's Meal on Wheels program for more sustained nutrition. If you know of a senior or vulnerable person in need, please let them know via email at [email protected] or by phone at 773-327-0553.

Common Pantry has also been trying to spread the word about new SNAP eligibility due to the pandemic to those who may have recently lost jobs.. The hotline number to call to apply for SNAP benefits and Medicaid is 773-843-5416. This will connect you to the Benefits Access Team at the Greater Chicago Food Depository."
