Yesterday I joined young leaders at HANA Center for a Youth Convening on the implementation of the TEAACH Act, which requires Illinois public schools to teach a curriculum on Asian American history.

As the chief sponsor of the TEAACH Act, I’m proud to stand alongside young people who are fighting to make sure Illinois classrooms reflect the histories, cultures and contributions of all our communities.

Youth voices must be at the center of this work. Their stories, advocacy and determination are helping turn the promise of the TEAACH Act into meaningful implementation in classrooms across Illinois.

It was an honor to join the Morton Grove Park District for its 75th Anniversary celebration and present a Senate proclamation recognizing this incredible milestone.

For 75 years, the Morton Grove Park District has helped bring neighbors together, create opportunities for families and strengthen our community. Thank you to the staff, commissioners and volunteers for your dedication to making Morton Grove a great place to live.

We are continuing to be recognized for our work on fiscal responsibility and strategic investments as we have now achieved our 11th Credit Upgrade.

This achievement is a reflection of our collective efforts to build a stronger, more vibrant state. With this improved credit rating, we'll be better equipped to tackle the challenges ahead and invest in a brighter future for all.

Technology is evolving, providing expanded mobility options for our neighbors through the rise in popularity of e-bikes and scooters. But without clear regulations for these devices, we are seeing increased injuries and accidents – jeopardizing community safety.

By establishing safeguards for operating a micromoblity device, we are reducing the risk for further accidents and bolstering community safety

I’m proud that Senate Bill 3086, legislation I sponsored, was signed into law as it will expand responsible investment opportunities for the state while creating new opportunities to support housing development and good-paying union jobs. This legislation gives Illinois more flexibility to put taxpayer dollars to work responsibly with strong safeguards in place, while helping finance projects built or rehabilitated by union labor.

I want to thank Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs for his leadership on this issue and State Representative Kevin Olickal for his collaboration in getting this across the finish line. I look forward to seeing its impact across our state!

Back to school season is here!

It was great to join the students, families and staff at Palmer Elementary to kick off the first day of school for CPS students. I had a blast handing out snow cones and helping welcome everyone back for another great year.

Tonight, I had the honor of joining the Maine Township community for Pakistan Cultural Day!

I was proud to celebrate the rich culture, heritage and traditions of the Pakistani American community and the many contributions they make to our state and nation.

It was a privilege to speak at today’s celebration and present the organizers with a Senate proclamation recognizing their incredible work in honoring the Pakistani American community. Thank you for having me and allowing me to be a part of this exciting event!

Today I had the pleasure of joining the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East for the opening of the 8th Annual Assyrian Food Festival!

This event was a wonderful celebration of Assyrian culture, heritage, food and community. Thank you to everyone involved in organizing this event for your hard work and bringing this rich tradition to the community. Wishing everyone a wonderful, festive weekend!

had a busy night of back-to-school events as students and teachers throughout the community get ready to head back to the classroom!

We had a great time handing out activity books and tasty treats while sharing the excitement for the new school year. I was also proud to hand out backpacks and school supplies for students, getting them ready for another year of learning and new opportunities.
