🚘 JOIN THE CARAVAN TO SPRIGNFIELD TO TELL PRITZKER, “KEEP THE JOSLIN PLANT OPEN!”

On September 3rd, hundreds of Joslin workers and community members from across the states of Illinois and Iowa will travel to Springfield to call on Pritzker to keep the Joslin plant open, repurpose it for continued use, and keep jobs in the Midwest. Join us as we travel from Chicago to Springfield to join Joslin workers as they deliver thousands of petition signatures and rally outside Pritzker’s office.

🪧 After two weeks on strike, Cook County Forest Preserve workers are still going strong! We stand with the workers all the way, and encourage you to support in any or all of the follow ways:

✊🏾 We stand with the inmates at Lawrence Correctional Center, who launched a hunger strike earlier this month to protest solitary confinement policies and other torturous conditions.

This hunger strike and the self-immolations at the Joliet Treatment Center highlight the horrific state of the U.S. prison-industrial complex, and why it must be abolished and replaced with a system that actually prioritizes rehabilitation and mental health care.

Join us in supporting community relief efforts on the ground in Gary, IN, where people are coming together to rebuild after record storms and racist neglect by NIPSCO and government officials. We’re working with organizations on the ground to distribute aid and hold NIPSCO accountable for their crimes!

TODAY: Joslin Tyson workers rallied and march outside the Rock Island County Admin Office to amplify their demand that the State of Illinois seize the plant using eminent domain to keep it open and save 2700+ jobs. We stand with workers in their demands, which also includes winning one year of severance compensation from Tyson.

Join us Sept. 3 to bring the workers’ demands to Springfield! Bus pickup is at 8:30am at the Sudanese Community Center (3501 7th Street East Moline). 🚌

Cook County Forest Preserve workers are well into their second week of striking, and still going strong! These workers, who have been hard at work cleaning up our county this storm season, are continuing stand up and demand fair wages and democracy at work. We’re with you all the way!

For two weeks, Northwest Indiana was forced to live in the dark due to racist neglect by NIPSCO and government officials. Despite this, the people came together to survive and now rebuild.

What happened to Northwest Indiana was not simply an accident or isolated example of mismanagement, but an extension of a racist, capitalist system that treats Black communities like Gary as less deserving of assistance during times of crisis. By organizing and fighting back against this system, we can win things like a moratorium on evictions and utility bills, compensation for spoiled food, and government funds to rebuild Gary!
