Franciscan Outreach is a leading provider of homeless services in Chicago. Through five service sites, we compassionately welcome and serve men and women who are marginalized and experiencing homelessness, no matter what their life circumstances may be. Each day, we offer healthy meals to those who are hungry, a warm bed for those who need shelter, vital case management services for those who need guidance, and access to critical resources for those who need specialized assistance.

We’re incredibly grateful to St. Joseph Church for decades of partnership, generosity, and unwavering support of Franciscan Outreach. From bag lunch programs and donation drives to volunteering and financial support, your commitment has made a meaningful impact on our mission and the neighbors we serve across Chicago. It was our pleasure to attend the St. Joseph Ministry Fair last weekend and connect with community members who share a passion for helping our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Having a job does not always mean having a home. Many people experiencing homelessness are working, but wages have not kept pace with rising rents. Across the country, affordable rental homes are becoming increasingly scarce, leaving millions of people with impossible choices.

At Franciscan Outreach, we know homelessness is not caused by one simple factor. Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to call home. Thank you for learning with us and standing with our neighbors across Chicago.

Because of the support of our donors, hope now has an address.

Walk the hallways at 2530 West 21st Street today and you pass door after door, each one opening into a private room where a guest will stay while they get ready for what comes next. For someone who has spent months or years sleeping in shared spaces, that privacy is dignity in its most practical form. It is also a bridge to the next chapter of their lives.

This is the first building in Chicago to hold both congregate and non-congregate housing under one roof, and it exists because you and others like you made it possible.

The project isn't complete just yet, but it's well underway! Here is a tour video taken by our Senior Director of Development and External Affairs, Audrey.

In addition to our regular shelter build updates, we would like to thank the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Guestroom Renovation for donating furniture to help us fill the new space!

And a big thank you to the Walsh team and all of the volunteers that helped to move and deliver the donated furniture! We are thrilled to see so much progress and can't wait to open the doors and start this next chapter.

To our Franciscan Outreach community, thank you.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness, generosity, and the care you continue to show our guests and our mission. Your support helps us offer shelter, meals, compassion, and hope to neighbors experiencing homelessness across Chicago.

As we open a door to a new chapter, we’ll be transitioning away from our Friday Blessing posts and introducing a more inclusive weekly reflection that continues to highlight gratitude, community, and the people who make this work possible.
