"September 11. I will never forget feeling scared and vulnerable. I will never forget feeling the deep sad loss of so many lives. I will never forget the smell of the smoke that reached across the water and delivered a deep feeling of doom into my gut. I will never forget feeling the boosted sense of unity and pride. I will never forget seeing the courageous actions of so many men and women. I will never forget seeing people of all backgrounds working together in community. I will never forget seeing what hate can destroy. I will never forget seeing what love can heal." 9/11 survivor

On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, while we remember those who died on this day in 2001, let us also honor those whose bravery, skills, and compassion allowed many to live. And may we always remember to choose love. #fridayblessing #chooselove #alwaysremember

We are grateful and truly touched by the extra kindness of our friends at Old St. Patrick's Church.

The parish not only answered our call for much-needed new underwear for the women we serve, but also sent along beautiful fresh roses with the donation!

This extra caring gesture is so very special and meaningful for our guests, filling them with the intangible feeling of hope, knowing that they have not been forgotten or overlooked. Thank you, Old Saint Pat’s, for being extraordinary supporters of Franciscan Outreach!

Today, as the staff at Franciscan Outreach celebrates Juneteenth, we are twice blessed! Illinois has declared this important day a state holiday and President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.

Thanks to the vision of Miss Opal Lee and the leadership of Mayor Lightfoot, Governor Pritzker, President Biden, and so many who came before them, for giving Juneteenth the recognition and status it deserves!

We are especially aware of the unfair disparities our guests of color face, and know it is our duty to work to correct these inequities. We pledge to continue to address racial inclusion, diversity, equity, access in our community, and take action against broader injustices that exist in Chicago.

We are blessed to have the continued support of The Illinois Club for Catholic Women. The most recent gift provides critical funds to offset the costs of additional services due to the impact of COVID-19.

As we move to the other side of the pandemic, we are grateful that, because of the generosity of ICCW and many philanthropic organizations and individuals, we can serve men and women experiencing homelessness and ensure that the vaccine is available and accessible to all our guests. With hope, care, compassion, and a willingness to give, what often seems impossible can be achieved! #fridayblessing #grateful

while the catholics are known for lots of charity and good deeds. the franciscan in chicago is a complete mockery to the faith. when i fu filed a civil rights complaint i was banned from services. it is easy to see how so many kids get violated by the faith. they keep the dirt covered up...the staff is a bunch of people who could not work anywhere else.. the supervisor tells that its a non profit not owned by anyone...they will bond in groups to protect the ways of civil rights crimes done to the very most vonerable in this town....how can so much good be seen and the civil crimes and grievences be covered up...
