CALLING ALL ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS!

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is excited to announce the expansion of its arts program to support new opportunities for temporary art installations, performances, and cultural activations across the transit system. Through this new initiative, CTA is seeking to fund organizations, artists, and performers up to $50,000 to create community-driven temporary exhibits and programming. The goal of the program is to create more welcoming, vibrant, and engaging station environments while reflecting the character of surrounding communities.

Proposals are being accepted for 2026 activations at the following stations:

95th Street Red Line Station
Damen Green Line Station
Damen Pink Line Station
Kimball Brown Line Station
Applications are now open and due Wednesday, July 1. For more information please visit transitchicago.com/art/activations or contact us at [email protected].

Our office will be closed for walk-ins today due to the power outage, but our team will be working from home. You can still reach us by phone or email, just not in person. We will also provide updates from ComEd as we learn them. They are working to restore power in a large area affected by the storm. The text below is what I received from our ComEd liaison this morning. Additional updates will be added to the response section below.

Our investments into public transit are starting to pay off! Effective this week, the #50 Damen bus will have 25% more service on Saturdays, with buses running every 12-15 minutes. On Sundays, 20% more service will be added, with buses running every 15 minutes. More information on service improvements that took place system-wide this past weekend can be found here: https://www.transitchicago.com/travel-information/alert-detail/?AlertId=115376.

Congressman García and I announce 2026 Summer Rapid Response Mobile Office Hours (RRMOH).

With the ongoing ICE enforcement actions in our communities, we are coordinating rapid response efforts to ensure that families and individuals impacted by detention and deportation have immediate access to resources, information, and support.

Our team will be available to assist constituents with detention and deportation defense, locating U.S. Citizens, including on-the-spot case assessments, and can provide help with other federal agency-related matters. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with your office to strengthen our collective capacity to respond quickly and effectively across the district.

During these Mobile Office Hours, our staff will provide:

Know Your Rights (KYR) information
Resources for legal assistance
Detention and deportation defense support
Casework intake for constituents needing help with a federal agency
Referrals for state and local programs or community services, as needed

Such a pleasure to celebrate the participants of the Parent Mentor Program - Illinois from the 16 schools in Pilsen and Back of the Yards organized by The Resurrection Project! I was proud to champion continued funding for this program in the 2027 state budget. So proud of everyone involved with the Parent Mentor Program and Ladders of Opportunity!
