UPDATE to original post of 1723 and 1724 Beat Community Meeting.

Last night I went to Illinois Masonic hospital to show support for 17th Police District Tactical officers. The police car was there with the bullet hole in the front windshield of the passenger side. What an impression that has left known that is where the bullet went through that struck the officer in the head.

May the 15 year old young man and the Police officer that was shot recover and may the Lord watch over them and their family tonight.

Tonight the message was clear that I heard at the CAPS meeting from residents - people are demanding more police presence and resources. They want a REAL plan with immediate results to deal with all the shootings, gang graffiti, home invasions, robberies that are Increasing in the neighborhood.

Together we will call on and demand that the 17th police district not only be fully staffed but that more officers be added. Also, that we shall not be forgotten by the Chicago Mayor's Office and by the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Patrol when they are deciding where to send the police officers that will be reassigned from desk duty to the neighborhood police districts these next weeks. For too long the 17th Police District gets short changed when new recruits are placed.

I will also ask all the other elected officials to join us in this effort to secure more Police officers in the 17th police District. I know that other elected officials have been requesting and if we all unite as one I know that we can make this happen

Tonight the message was clear that I heard at the CAPS meeting from residents - people are demanding more police presence and that they want a REAL plan to deal with all the shootings, gang graffiti, home invasions, robberies that are increasing in the neighborhood.

Once I get home I will start to work on a strategy/campaign to organize the neighborhood organizations that fall with in the 17th Police District and the IL 40th state rep district that I represent. We will together call on and demand that the 17th police district not only be fully staffed but that more officers be added. Also that we shall not be forgotten by the Chicago Mayor's Office and the Chicago Police Department & the office of Police Deployment when they are deciding where to send the police officers that will be re assigned from desk duty to the neighborhood police districts. For too long the 17th Police District gets short changed when openings are distributed.

I will also ask all the other elected officials to join us in this effort to secure more Police officers in the 17th police District. I will create another post that will allow people to contact the appropriate people to ensure this happens.
