Voting for Participatory Budgeting in the 39th Ward will begin on Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 11. Alderman Samantha Nugent is excited to share the list of projects that will appear on this year's ballot. When Alderman Nugent was elected in 2019, she brought the first PB cycle to the ward. Now in its 3rd year, 40 community members are on the PB Committee. The PB Committee proposes, evaluates, and selects projects that are voted on by residents of the 39th Ward. See the projects on this year's ballot by checking the Alderman's page and AldermanNugent.com. You can vote online or by paper ballot at the ward office during regular business hours. 39th Ward Residents, age 14 years and older, vote on the community ballot. The infrastructure projects that receive the most votes, which add up to $500,000, will be funded.
You can vote online here (https://www.participatepbchicago.org/processes/PB39) from Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 11.

UPDATE to original post of 1723 and 1724 Beat Community Meeting. Last night I went to Illinois Masonic hospital to show support for 17th Police District Tactical officers. The police car was there with the bullet hole in the front windshield of the passenger side. What an impression that has left known that is where the bullet went through that struck the officer in the head. May the 15 year old young man and the Police officer that was shot recover and may the Lord watch over them and their family tonight. Tonight the message was clear that I heard at the CAPS meeting from residents - people are demanding more police presence and resources. They want a REAL plan with immediate results to deal with all the shootings, gang graffiti, home invasions, robberies that are Increasing in the neighborhood. Together we will call on and demand that the 17th police district not only be fully staffed but that more officers be added. Also, that we shall not be forgotten by the Chicago Mayor's Office and by the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Patrol when they are deciding where to send the police officers that will be reassigned from desk duty to the neighborhood police districts these next weeks. For too long the 17th Police District gets short changed when new recruits are placed. I will also ask all the other elected officials to join us in this effort to secure more Police officers in the 17th police District. I know that other elected officials have been requesting and if we all unite as one I know that we can make this happen Please find the link that I am asking for you to share with your organizations.
