This Black History Month, we pay tribute to the generations of Black veterans who have bravely served in the U.S. military. From the Tuskegee Airmen to those who have served or currently serve in modern conflicts, their courage, resilience, and dedication have shaped the strength of our armed forces.

Despite facing adversity, Black service members have fought with honor, led with distinction, and paved the way for greater inclusion in the military. Their contributions continue to inspire future generations of service members and leaders.

We honor their sacrifices and celebrate their enduring impact.

Yesterday was law enforcement appreciation day. Thank you could never be enough, but we’ll say it anyway. MPSO wants to thank our police officers in and out of the military for all that they do. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, check out this paper acknowledging the need for more research into the military police profession. What are your thoughts? Check the link in our story for the article.

“An analysis of diagnosed conditions among military police personnel using the DMED revealed that over time, there were moderate-to-large increases in sleep-related and mood and stress-related disorders. Analyses also revealed that some demographic groups were overrepresented or underrepresented in various diagnoses, indicating more targeted behavioral and occupational health needs by s*x, age group, service branch, pay grades, and other groups. These results highlight the ongoing importance of health-related programming and stigma reduction efforts, particularly in high-risk and understudied work populations such as military police personnel.”

Happy New Year! MPSO wishes you and yours a wonderful start to the New Year. As we leave behind a month of reflection and charge ahead into the unknown, remember to carry with you the lessons of December. January is Mental Health Awareness Month. Consider the word awareness - this is where all growth and understanding comes from. Over the next few weeks, give yourself more time to explore sensations, habits, emotions, and reactions. When we become aware of how we move through this big world, we can start to understand ourselves. Whether you are an Adler student back to your studies or someone out there in the internet, we invite you to get to know yourself a bit better. We could all use the reminder - no judgement, just become aware.

We hope you have a great New Year's Eve and we look forward to seeing where 2025 takes us!
