Leading breeder of beagles for research slammed by animal welfare inspectors

A blistering report in Science magazine details dozens of Animal Welfare Act violations--including the deaths of 300 puppies of "unknown causes"--at one of the nation's largest breeders of beagles for medical research.

While the report is horrific, it is, sadly, not surprising. And it reinforces the urgency of NAVS' mission to end the use of ALL animals in science.

#znaukąprzezwieki #światowydzieńzwierzątlaboratoryjnych #worlddayforlaboratoryanimals #ndla Światowy Dzień Zwierząt Laboratoryjnych (Międzynarodowy Dzień Przeciwko Wiwisekcji) to święto obchodzone 24 kwietnia, uznane przez United Nations jako dzień upamiętnienia zwierząt laboratoryjnych. . . W 1980 roku organizacja PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), której przewodziła Ingrid Newkirk, zorganizowała pierwszy Światowy Dzień Protestu Zwierząt Laboratoryjnych w USA. Dziś wydarzenie to naznaczone jest demonstracjami i protestami grup sprzeciwiających się wykorzystywaniu zwierząt do badań. . W kwietniu 2010 r. protestujący maszerowali przez centrum Londynu, wzywając do zaprzestania wykorzystywania zwierząt do badań. Podobny marsz miał miejsce w Birmingham w 2012 roku i Nottingham w 2014 r. Światowy Dzień i Światowy Tydzień Zwierząt również przyciągnęły uwagę grup naukowych broniących wykorzystywania zwierząt w badaniach. Źródło: https://worlddayforlaboratoryanimals.org/aboutwdla/
For 42 år siden, d. 24. Siden 2011 har DOSO afholdt forsøgsdyrenes dag her i Danmark, men pga. 🙏🐾 ❤

In today's (2/23/21) NYT there is an article: "Future Vaccines Depend on Test Subjects in Short Supply: Monkeys" that presents an unchallenged view of the need to use animals in research. The NYT offers the ability to comment on most of its articles, but not this one. There are jabs at animal rights "activists" that have intimidated many airlines from transporting live animals for research, and leaders of research institutes promoting the creating of what would essentially be a monkey factory farm. I hope NAVS will contribute a letter to the editor about this article, as well as the issues, to counteract the all too familiar action of presenting "de facto" the normalcy and need to exploit animals. I will also write a letter.

Do doświadczeń wykorzystuje się m.in. szympansy, koty, psy, świnie, szczury, myszy i pstrągi.
