Adoption Information:
Adoption Fee: $45.00 (includes spay/neuter, microchipping, and vaccinations)
Surrender Fee: $55.00
City Licenses: $5.00 Altered pets, $10.00 Unaltered Pets (Rabies certificate is required when purchasing a City License)

Chickasha Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Our team is dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of animals in our community. In addition to providing a safe and caring environment for adoptable animals, we are responsible for enforcing all animal-related laws within the City of Chickasha and for holding and caring for stray animals that are found within city limits. Beyond these core responsibilities, we also work to support responsible pet ownership through a variety of community services. These include a public spay and neuter program in partnership with OkHumane, city pet licensing, and educational outreach to help residents better care for their animals. Chickasha Animal Welfare operates daily with a very limited staff who are supported by several incredible volunteers. We maintain an active foster program and are always looking to partner with compassionate community members who want to assist in our mission of helping animals in need. Volunteers are welcome seven days a week after submitting a volunteer application, and we encourage anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of animals to get involved.

Today we celebrate someone who has dedicated countless years to helping animals in need. ❤️

Marie has been a foster, volunteer, transporter, advocate, and lifesaver for decades. Through her dedication, compassion, and endless willingness to help, thousands of animals have been given a second chance at life.

Whether she’s opening her home to foster pets, putting miles on her vehicle for transport, volunteering her time, or stepping up whenever help is needed, Marie is always there for the animals and our community.

The impact she has made is impossible to measure. Every adoption, every rescue, every life saved has been touched by her kindness and commitment.

From all of us at Chickasha Animal Welfare and CARTA, thank you for everything you do. We are incredibly grateful for you and all the lives you’ve helped save over the years. We love you!

🚗🐾 In just ONE WEEK, our volunteers and fosters have driven more than 840 miles transporting dogs and kittens to rescues, foster homes, and second chances.

We simply could not do what we do without our incredible fosters and volunteers. Every mile driven, every animal housed, and every hour donated helps save lives. ❤️

Unfortunately, this is our busiest season, and there is no sign of it slowing down. Shelters and rescues everywhere are overwhelmed. Kennels are full, fosters are stretched thin, and animals continue to arrive every day.

The solution starts before animals ever enter a shelter.

🐶🐱 Please spay and neuter your pets.

Animal shelters and rescue organizations cannot keep up with the number of unwanted litters being born. We are doing everything we can, but right now, we are drowning.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, volunteering, or helping a local rescue, now is the time. Together, we can make a difference—but we cannot do it alone.

Thanks to Sommer's Rescue Transport, Margaret, Mabel, Lucy, Rabbit, Kit, and Kat are headed to Illinois and will be there by tonight! 🐶🐱

These transports are life-saving opportunities that help create space in our shelter while giving animals a chance to find loving forever homes. We are so grateful for our transport partners, rescue partners, and dedicated volunteers who make journeys like this possible.

Some foster stories are just meant to have a happy ending… and this is one of them!

We’re excited to announce that Brownie is officially a foster fail! 🎉🏡

What started as a temporary stay turned into forever love. Brownie worked his way right into his foster family’s hearts, and they simply couldn’t imagine life without him. ❤️

This sweet boy has officially traded in shelter life for a lifetime of belly rubs, comfy beds, and unconditional love. We couldn’t be happier for him and his new family!

Thank you to everyone who supports fostering. Brownie’s story is a perfect reminder that fostering saves lives—and sometimes it changes yours too. 🐾
