For nearly 60 years, Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) has connected Chico State students with meaningful, student-led service in the Chico community.

Each semester, more than 150 student volunteers and approximately 35 student leaders support 9 local community partners, providing free K–10 tutoring for local youth, assisting K–12 classrooms and afterschool programs, preserving and restoring Bidwell Park, supporting local animal shelters, strengthening the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry operations, and assisting emergency shelters and transitional housing programs.

Welcome back, Wildcats! Ready to make an impact this semester? CAVE is now recruiting volunteers for our Spring 2026 semester-long programs, and we want YOU to join us!

CAVE offers 8 exciting volunteer opportunities, from mentoring youth and helping animals at the local shelter to volunteering in the park. As a CAVE volunteer, you’ll:
• Earn 1 unit of academic credit
• Complete 30 hours of meaningful service
• Build hands-on leadership skills

In collaboration with the HUB, CAVE is excited to host Crafty Connections on January 19th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.!

Come and join us for a creative community-building event for students! Participants will make handmade Valentine’s cards to support seniors and those in the broader community.

Come relax, get creative, and give back while making meaningful connections on campus. All supplies will be provided—just bring yourself!
