Butte County Library Friends of Literacy Services Butte County Library Friends of Literacy Services, (Formerly BLC), is an all-volunteer, nonprofit working with Butte County Library Literacy Services.

Among the Butte Literacy Council purposes:
• increasing public awareness of available local literacy resources
• assisting in identifying areas of literacy needs
• directing efforts to improve literacy in the Butte County area
• providing referral information about literacy services
• instituting programs that assist learners in attaining their literacy goals
