To our ohana across the Hawaiian Islands,

Our hearts are with each and every one of you facing the aftermath of the recent heavy rains and storms. We know these moments can feel overwhelming, when the land you love is tested and daily life is disrupted, but we also know the strength, resilience, and deep sense of community that define Hawaiʻi.

At ALERTWest, we stand with you. We see the neighbor’s helping neighbors, the quiet acts of kindness, and the unwavering spirit that continues to shine even in difficult times. That spirit is what will carry these islands forward.

Please continue to stay safe, look out for one another, and lean on your community. Recovery takes time, but no one is walking through it alone.

With respect, care, and solidarity,

Thanksgiving reminds us how fortunate we are to work with such dedicated and selfless partners who show up every day for their communities, even on days like today when it may mean missing time with loved ones. To the responders, emergency managers, dispatchers, utility teams, and our operations center team who remain on duty to keep us safe, thank you! Your commitment and sacrifice are deeply appreciated, today and every day.

November 8 marks the anniversary of two of California’s most devastating wildfires, the and the , both igniting on this day in 2018.

The Camp Fire and Woolsey Fire left lasting marks on California’s communities and landscapes, reminding us of how quickly lives can change when wildfire strikes.

These tragedies remain a powerful reminder of what is at stake and why we must keep strengthening our ability to detect and respond to wildfire quickly and effectively.

Many members of our ALERTWest team lived through the Camp Fire. Their experiences continue to shape our work and strengthen our resolve to support those who protect lives, communities, and landscapes across the country.

Today, we remember those lost, support those who continue to rebuild, and appreciate those working every day to make a difference going forward.

Jackson Hole’s beauty comes with risk. The same rugged terrain and wild landscapes that make it iconic also make it vulnerable to wildfire. After major incidents like the Dollar Lake Fire, which burned nearly 20,000 acres, local leaders are taking proactive steps to stay ahead of the next ignition.

We’re proud to see Jackson Hole Fire/EMS featured in the Jackson Hole News&Guide for their forward-thinking approach to wildfire preparedness. By adding three AI-powered wildfire detection cameras, the department is expanding visibility across the valley, gaining critical lead time for response, and reducing false alarms, helping protect both people and property.

It’s an honor for ALERTWest to support this community and partner with agencies working every day to safeguard the places we all cherish.
