There’s a side of California agriculture you’ve likely never seen. 🌊

It’s not found in vineyards or orchards. Instead, it’s tucked into coastal bays, moving through inland hatcheries, and growing in precision-controlled environments. This is California aquaculture - a world of oysters, mussels, trout, kelp, and more.

Behind every harvest is a team of farmers, scientists, and technicians working early hours and late nights to build a sustainable food future. It’s operational, it’s essential, and it’s happening right now.

It’s time to bring these stories out of the water and onto your radar. Follow along as we explore the people and the passion behind California’s aquatic farms.

A groundbreaking study in Nature Communications Sustainability reveals that seaweed isn't just absorbing CO₂ through photosynthesis... it's turning our ocean into a giant "antacid"!

Researchers found that seaweed farms supercharge a hidden process on the seafloor, boosting the ocean's alkalinity and locking away carbon for thousands of years. It’s a powerful, overlooked mechanism that could be a game-changer for climate change and ocean acidification.
