“He wears bow ties. He runs marathons. He throws around words like “externalities.”
Randall Stone is a well-known personality in the city of Chico, first elected to the City Council in 2012. Believe it or not, he was elected as mayor by the new council just under 13-weeks ago, succeeding Sean Morgan.
It has been a whirlwind the past few months, as the city grapples with a swollen population after the devastating Camp Fire. Agendas have been packed, and meetings have been going past midnight.
In an enlightening Q and A with the Enterprise-Record this week, Stone explained his positions on issues ranging from commercial cannabis to sales tax and policing levels, and how he got to where he is now.
Randall Stone and his wife, Krista, have lived in Chico since 1995. They have two young boys, Rhys, age 5, and Karden, under 1 year old. Stone drives but likes to take the B-Line often, he says, including on the way to his son’s school in the morning so they have some quality time together.
In addition to owning his own business, Randall Stone Financial, Stone is President of the Shalom Free Clinic, Treasurer of the Safe Space Winter Shelter board and a Lecturer of Real Estate and Finance at Chico State University, among many other positions.
