Team Modern Lovers hit the town for a three-team bar crawl and proved once again that Rotary is about more than service projects and meetings. It’s about friendships, service, and having just a little bit of fun along the way!

From one stop to the next, there was plenty of good stories being told, laughs being had, and drinks being shared. Nights like these remind us that some of the best Rotary moments happen when we simply spend time together.

Service above self is important. So is having a little fun with your Rotary family.

Yesterday, Rotary took a field trip out to the historic Honey Run Covered Bridge - Official Page to hear from Walt Schafer and Lindsay Steinberg about the incredible efforts behind rebuilding this beloved community landmark after the Camp Fire.

From fundraising and planning to restoration and visioning for the future, it was inspiring to hear how much heart, collaboration, and determination have gone into bringing the bridge back to life plus all the local community businesses that have supported these efforts. More than just a bridge, Honey Run represents resilience, history, and the power of community coming together after tragedy.

We’re grateful for the chance to learn more about what’s ahead for this iconic Butte County treasure and the impact it will continue to have for generations to come. 💛

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms, mother figures, grandmothers, chosen family, bonus moms, aunties, and women who show up every single day with love, strength, and heart.

Today (and every day) we celebrate the women who build communities, support others endlessly, and make the world a little softer and stronger just by being in it.

Thank you for making our club a better club!

From all of us at Rotary: thank you for everything you do. 💙💛

Team Black Hearts & Friends turned community impact into a full-on derby day celebration ❤️🖤🏇

The team came together for a derby-style event filled with great people, good laughs, fun outfits, socializing, and an even better cause: supporting the DEC Program (Drug Endangered Children).

Together, they collected and donated more than 4,000 diapers through Children’s Social Services to help local families in need. Of those, 875 diapers went to the Oroville location, while the remaining donations stayed in Chico due to facility capacity.

It’s proof that when community comes together, you really can have a good time while doing good at the same time. Huge shoutout to everyone who donated, showed up, and helped make a real impact for children and families across our area.

Every year, our club has the honor of recognizing outstanding educators across the Chico community for their dedication, passion, and impact on the next generation. In celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Day, we proudly honored this year’s incredible educators who continue to shape lives both inside and outside the classroom.

Congratulations to our 2026 honorees:

🍎 Butte College — Miles Peacock
🍎 Chico State — Laura Curtis
🍎 CORE Butte Charter — Daniel Martin
🍎 Inspire School of Arts and Sciences — Antonio Isern
🍎 Chico High School — Dene Ehrhart
🍎 Pleasant Valley High School — Valerie Barber
🍎 Fairview High School/CUSD Alternative Education — Emily Corona

Thank you for the early mornings, long nights, endless patience, and unwavering commitment to the students and families of our community. Chico is better because of educators like you. Tag a teacher you know or recognize ❤️

The Rick Rolls brought the fiesta to Devin Potter’s house for a Cinco de Mayo social and let’s just say… I’m assuming the vibes were top notch because absolutely nobody gave me any details when they sent over this video 😆🌮🍹

So from what I can gather: there was food, there were drinks, there was fellowship, there was some live music, and at least a few Rotarians probably saying “just one more margarita.”

We sure love to mix in some fun when we’re not busy working on service projects.

Another weekend, another workday, and real progress on our Catalyst Domestic & Sexual Violence Services project.

Huge thanks to all the Rotarians who showed up, especially those who came back for back-to-back weekends. That kind of follow-through is what turns plans into meaningful community impact.

Projects like this don’t happen without strong community partnerships. The team from Chico Area Recreation & Park District anchored the logistics and kept everything moving, helping us stay focused on getting the work done for Catalyst and their shelter guests.

We’re incredibly grateful for the partners who stepped in to make this possible. Rental Guys showed up with equipment and donated materials, CRBR Property Damage Services handled pressure washing during the week, and Payless Building Supply kept materials flowing so work never slowed down.

Dawson Landscaping went above and beyond behind the scenes with pre-cleaning, reworking the landscape plan, fixing irrigation, and discounting sod and labor. The Plant Barn donated all plants, and MRC Recreation helped the club save on playground equipment that’s still on the way.

And when it came time to close it out, Stan Thompson and the Bestway crew, along with the Black Hearts team, stepped in late last week to knock out the final pieces of the project list.

This is what it looks like when Chico shows up for its own. Community partnerships turning into real, lasting impact.
