👏 Meet James Hayton, this year’s recipient of the CalECSE Be the One Award!

As an Early Start Teacher/Supervisor in Butte County, James is making a lasting difference for young children with disabilities and their families through his dedication to early intervention, inclusion, and family-centered support.

Through his partnership with the Center for Learning and Resilience Family Resource Center, James has helped bring developmental screenings and early identification into inclusive community playgroups, making it easier for families to connect with the support and services they need.

James also leads by example, mentoring colleagues, strengthening collaboration, and creating a supportive environment where both families and staff can thrive.

Thank you, James, for your compassion, leadership, and commitment to helping every child reach their potential. You truly embody what it means to Be the One!

Dolly Parton believed in giving back and helping children dream bigger—and this year, we’re celebrating that spirit right here in Butte County! One hundred percent of direct donations to the Butte County Charitable Trust 501(c)(3) stay local and directly cover the cost of the books.

Give Like Dolly Day is coming September 25!

Dolly Parton believed in giving back and helping children dream bigger—and this year, we’re celebrating that spirit right here in Butte County through Give Like Dolly Day.

Since launching in November 2025, over 3,000 children are receiving free books here in Butte County.

On September 25, we’re inviting our community to join us in giving back to children by supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Butte County. Your support helps make it possible for children in our community to receive a free, high-quality book every month from birth to age 5.

Join us for our first Caregiver Café for Dads on September 15 from 6:00–7:30 PM at The Center for Learning and Resilience. Connect with other dads, share stories, talk about the joys and challenges of fatherhood, and enjoy a free dinner!

The Center for Learning and Resilience is saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton and grateful for the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, millions of children have received the gift of a book—and with it, the opportunity to imagine, learn, connect, and dream.

As a center committed to supporting young children and families, we know just how powerful a book can be. Every story shared between a child and a caring adult builds connection, language, confidence, and resilience.

Thank you, Dolly, for believing in children and making sure that a love of reading could reach families everywhere.
