Youth & Family Programs- Butte County

Youth & Family Programs- Butte County Since 1984 Youth & Family Programs has been providing a supportive, safe, and stable environment for foster families and foster children.

Youth and Family Programs was established in 1984. We work with children age infant to 21 years old who have been detained by Butte and Shasta County. We also offer Transitional Housing and the Independent Living Program for our youth in extended foster care. There are over 58,000 children in the foster care system in California. Foster care provides a stable environment that assures a child's saf

ety and well-being while their parents attempt to resolve the issues that lead to the out-of-home placement. Anyone who is safe, stable, adult, married, or single with room in their hearts and home for children in need can become a foster parent. You must be willing to be responsible for the care of a foster child, be willing to become a part of our team, and be able to meet the Community Care Licensing requirements.

Placement in Foster Care Reality-
Children in foster care may experience multiple placements while in the system, which can impact their sense of stability and belonging.

Foster parents and caregivers play a critical role in providing consistency, care, and compassion during uncertain times.

Many youth in foster care in California are teens preparing for adulthood—often without permanent family connections.

Programs across the state help support independent living skills, education, and career readiness—but they still need caring adults in their corner.

Connection matters. Mentorship matters. YOU matter.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, Youth and Family Programs would like to recognize the incredible social workers working tirelessly behind the scenes for children and families in foster care.

Behind every case file is a child needing support, a family navigating challenges, and a social worker carrying the emotional weight of difficult decisions, long days, and endless advocacy. Their work often goes unseen, but their impact changes lives every single day.

To the social workers who answer late-night calls, fight for resources, support reunification, encourage foster families, and continue showing up even on the hardest days — thank you. Your compassion, resilience, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

During Foster Care Awareness Month, we stand beside you in recognizing the importance of supporting children, youth, and families in our communities. 💙
