Statement Regarding Last Wednesday’s Conservation Commission Meeting

I want to thank everyone who took the time to attend last Wednesday’s Conservation Commission meeting. Over the past several days, I’ve had conversations with nearly 100 residents—not only from Ward 6, but from across the City of Chicopee.

It was a very positive meeting, and I sincerely appreciate every person who took time out of their busy schedule to be there, ask questions, share concerns, and take part in an important conversation about our community.

In just 10 days, I believe more progress has been made through conversations with residents and the entities involved than we have seen on this issue in the last 10 years. That is what can happen when people come together, communicate, and work toward solutions.

There is still work ahead, but I am incredibly optimistic about where we are going.

The best has yet to come for Ward 6 and the City of Chicopee.

Recently, I received questions about the new fencing at the Westover Metropolitan Development Corporation (WMDC) property. I only learned about this issue yesterday via Facebook—no one had alerted me beforehand. If someone had, I would have looked into it right away. If you have questions about Ward 6, please contact me directly using my public information. I can only address concerns I know about and always work to provide accurate answers.

After learning about this issue, I spoke with WMDC’s Executive Director and spent hours at City Hall to understand the situation. The fencing is required for insurance and FAA safety reasons. WMDC, like any property owner, must secure its property to prevent liability—similar to how homeowners with pools must have fences. There are no plans for development at this property. The fencing is solely for insurance and FAA requirements. If that ever changes, it would go through the proper public process.

Currently, only neighbors within 300 feet are notified about Conservation Commission matters; councilors are not. I plan to look into a policy so Ward Councilors are also notified for better communication.

I also want to address repeated accusations of corruption. Chicopee faces real issues, but certain individuals prefer to create distractions with personal attacks and false claims. I was elected to solve problems, not engage in controversy.

I welcome debate and constructive criticism, but accusations of corruption without evidence are unacceptable. Yesterday, I publicly explained what happened and immediately began investigating. Today, I confirmed the facts with WMDC and City Hall. Still, some continue to imply corruption without evidence.

If anyone believes I have acted improperly or unethically, present the evidence; if you cannot, stop making the accusation. False accusations damage reputations, mislead the public, and distract from the real issues facing our community.

Those who continue to make serious factual allegations without evidence should understand that false statements can have legal consequences and should not be surprised if they are ultimately required to answer for them.

My record, votes, and work are public. I have never avoided accountability and will continue to serve Ward 6 and Chicopee with honesty and integrity. Chicopee deserves leaders focused on facts, respectful debate, and solving real problems—not on misinformation or controversy.

My priority remains serving Ward 6 and moving Chicopee forward.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

As we gather to celebrate this holiday, it's imperative to remember that Thanksgiving encompasses much more than just the food, drinks, and football. It is a time for reflection, a moment to pause and acknowledge the countless blessings in our lives.

Every Holiday Season reminds us to slow down and appreciate the invaluable gifts we often take for granted-our families, our friends, and the simple joy each day can bring.

As John F. Kennedy wisely noted, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them."

On a personal note, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to my professional and personal growth this past year. Through all of the conversations, shared experiences, and guidance, your continued support has meant the world to me.

As you celebrate today, I hope it is filled with warmth, laughter, and a profound sense of gratitude. Let us remember that "Gratitude turns what we have into enough" and take the time to cherish what truly matters in our lives.
