Good Morning. Happy September 1st. Wow the summer months flew by. Well. We all know what that means. Our amazing friends at the Chicopee Electric Light department will be putting donation slips into electric bills. This way, you can send in donations for our seniors and for their amazing center. All monies that you donate goes back into creating great memories. And. Remember. Unlike some charities, this will benefit everyone because we all grow older and will need the center at some point. So please. Give to our great center. And, CELD thank you so much for all your hard work. We are honored to have gotten this leaf for our tree of life, honoring you for all you do for us.

It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of a Chicopee icon. A man that gave his everything to Chicopee and make it a better place. Former City Treasurer, Ernie Laflamme. You couldn’t have a conversation about the history and progression of Chicopee without including Ernie. He was a leader. A friend. A mentor. Wry instrumental in our Senior Center and doing things to better the lives of others. I’ve known him since I was a teenager working on his computer at his house. Great memories. On behalf of the Friends of RiverMills we offer our condolences and prayers to his family and say thank you Ernie for all you’ve done. Your legacy will live on.

What an amazing night. It was 🦞 🦞 🦞
Fest at the center this evening. Close to 300 people enjoyed a 1.5lb fresh, Maine lobster, baked potato, corn on the cob and blueberry cobbler while enjoying the tunes of DJ Luis. To top it off, we had our largest 50/50 raffle ever. $1045!!! Thank you all for coming out and w joying this with us. I want to thank Sherry and her staff for all their hard work in putting this event on. When I say fresh I mean fresh. Sherry and Casey drove to Maine to get these lobsters. And thanks for coming and sharing dinner with our seniors Mayor Vieau. The Mayor went around getting input from people on how we can improve and make Chicopee better.

McKinstry Market Garden, Inc. for donating all the corn for our seniors and to the Castle Of Knights Chicopee Ma for cooking all of our lobsters, and to the Chicopee Travel Club for their donation for dessert.
