đź’™ B.O.S.S. SELF-CARE WEEK CHALLENGE đź’™
We may have missed International Self-Care Day on 7/24 but self-care shouldn’t be limited to one day anyway.

So we’re making it a whole week!

This week, we challenge everyone (including us) to do ONE thing every day just for YOU - rest, take a walk, drink more water, unplug, say no, ask for help, or simply give yourself some grace.

What’s ONE thing you’re going to do for yourself this week?
Drop it in the comments — you might inspire someone else to do the same
Don’t forget to keep us updated daily if you can🙏🙏

Standing with, not over.

đź’™ WE COULD USE A LITTLE COMMUNITY HELP đź’™
As we continue working through the weekend to keep this amazing woman safe, we are hoping our community might be able to help us accomplish one more thing:
Keep her safely housed for the next week.
If anyone is able to make even a small donation toward her continued week stay it would truly be a miracle. Every donation matters — $5, $10, $20 — it all adds up and gives us more time to work toward a longer-term solution.
For complete transparency, anyone who would prefer to pay the location directly can private-message B.O.S.S and we can provide the information needed to make a payment. Donations can also be made through our B.O.S.S. Venmo account.
No amount is too small.đź’™
We are also running very low on supplies for the backpacks we distribute during street outreach. We are currently working on putting together an updated donation wish list, but some of the items we consistently need include:
• New backpacks
• Bottled water
• Gatorade/electrolyte drinks
• Granola/protein bars and individually packaged snacks
• Peanut butter or cheese crackers
• Tuna/chicken packets with crackers
• New socks
• Underwear
• T-shirts
• Travel-size shampoo, conditioner and body wash
• Toothbrushes and toothpaste
• Deodorant
• Feminine hygiene products
• Baby wipes/body wipes
• Hand sanitizer
• Sunscreen
• Bug spray
• Rain ponchos
• Band-Aids/basic first-aid supplies
• Flashlights
• Reusable water bottles
• Drawstring bags or gallon-size storage bags for organizing supplies
If you can donate one item, fill one backpack, contribute toward one night in a motel, or simply share this post, you are helping.
We don't need one person to do everything.
We need a community where everyone is willing to do something.
Yesterday we sat beside one woman and promised her she wasn't alone. Today, we're asking our community to stand beside her with us.

đź’™QUIET ONLINE, BUT NOT IN THE COMMUNITYđź’™
We realized we haven’t posted an update since June 10th, and for that we apologize. B.O.S.S. has absolutely still been out there.
Continuing outreach, strengthening community partnerships, holding a B.O.S.S. Board Meeting on the beach🌊and planning an exciting fundraising event that we’ll be announcing soon!

Thursday afternoon, Chicopee Police reached out to B.O.S.S. asking for assistance with an amazing 65-year-old woman who was facing the very real possibility of having nowhere to go but a tent within 24 hours we found ourselves sitting beside her on a motel bed, drying her tears and reassuring her that she was not alone while trying desperately to find a safe solution. For hours, we made phone calls, sent emails, contacted providers and every resource we could think of. There were moments of frustration and moments when another closed door felt impossible to understand but giving up on her was never an option. What happened next is something I won’t forget.
At that motel there was Chicopee Police, Hampden County Taskforce and B.O.S.S., community partners were contacted and we began making calls, sharing resources, brainstorming options and doing everything possible to make sure this woman was safe. That collaboration, coordination, advocacy and support are continuing throughout the weekend as we work toward the next step. Yesterday wasn’t about one organization getting credit.
It was about what can happen when people stop saying, “That’s not our department,” instead ask, “What can we do?”
Sometimes outreach is handing someone a backpack, helping obtain an ID, providing Narcan or making a referral and sometimes it is sitting beside someone on a motel bed, drying tears, making one more phone call and reminding her that she matters and that she is not facing this alone. “Standing with, not over”. Yesterday was a reminder how much can happen when
we show up for another human being.
We may have been quiet online, but B.O.S.S. is here. We’re learning. We’re growing. And we’re just getting started.
More to come. đź’™

WE NEED YOU

Are you a local business willing to sponsor a backpack drive, host a donation bin, organize a “Fill the Backpack” event or make a monthly contribution? Your support doesn’t just help individuals experiencing homelessness, it demonstrates leadership, community investment,a commitment to creating positive change. Community groups, churches, scout troops, schools, civic organizations, businesses can all make a difference.

If you can’t donate, please share this post. Someone in your network may be looking for a way to create real impact.

B.O.S.S. is not going away. The need is too great, the voices are too often unheard and meaningful change needs to happen. We will continue showing up, advocating, listening and standing with—not over—those we serve. Together, we can be part of that change.
