Our 4th annual SpringFest was a huge hit!

Over 120 classic cars filled the parking lot of Building 35, with the smell of fresh food and great music in the air, all in support of spreading awareness for Veteran su***de.

Secretary of VA's Awards for Excellence in Nursing & for Advancement in Nursing Programs

The VA Secretary's Awards in Nursing Excellence program, established in 1984, annually honors one Medical Center Director, Nurse Executive (NE), Registered Nurse (RN) in a staff nurse role and one in a non-staff nurse role, i.e. advanced practice nurse, nurse manager, instructor, etc., a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), and a Nursing Assistant (NA) or Healthcare Technician actively engaged in the care of patients at a VA Medical Center (VAMC). The recipients' contributions to the care of patients in any VA health care setting are patient-driven and demonstrate such excellence as to merit recognition from peers. This award is given only once to an individual.
The Secretary's Awards consists of three major areas: Excellence in Nursing, Advancement of Nursing Programs by a Medical Center or Health Care System Director, and Advancement of Nursing Programs by a Medical Center or Health Care System Nurse Executive. The award categories for Medical Center or Health Care System Director and Medical Center or Health Care System Nurse Executive were added in 1993 and 2003, respectively. The Health Care Technician (HCT) was included in the Nursing Assistant award category in 2006.

Through these awards, The DAISY Foundation expresses deep gratitude for all that nurses and nurse leaders do, providing a meaningful way to thank and celebrate the impact they have on those they serve.

Temporary Addresses are Changing in the new Federal EHR:

Snowbird Veterans: With the new Federal EHR, temporary addresses can no longer be stored in the system.

VA will now keep two addresses for you: a residential address and a mailing address. If you relocate seasonally, be sure to update your mailing address so that your prescriptions and letters reach you. You can change your address by:

-Calling the contact center at 740-773-1141
-In person at the Chillicothe VAMC
-On VA.gov at VA.gov/change-address
-In the VA: Health and Benefits mobile app

Have you seen our historical Henry Mace House? Now a museum, the Mace House will be open for tours during our 18th Veterans Appreciation Celebration on July 25th from 10am to 4pm!

During our transition to the Federal EHR, there will be a short gap where the automated pharmacy phone system won’t be able to accept prescription renewal or refill requests. You won’t be able to submit renewal requests from June 1st until June 6th. You won’t be able to submit refill requests from June 5th until June 6th. The automated pharmacy phone system will direct you to a pharmacy representative during this time.

During this transition, you can still request refills and renewals at an appointment, by mailing in a refill slip, or by directly calling the pharmacy using the phone number on your prescription label to speak to a pharmacy representative.
