Time to sign up the kiddos for a great event!! Come out and support the police department 🚔

Battle lines are being drawn for September. In an epic battle of pages, the Chilton Police Department and Chilton Fire Department need your help to win the Book Battle of the Badges.

Each department is facing off to earn your reading minutes.

Kids can read in 20-minute increments and donate each completed block to either department. Readers may support one team or divide their blocks between the two teams. Weekly prizes will keep the fun going throughout the challenge.

At the end of September, the department receiving the most donated reading minutes will win bragging rights - and a well-earned treat of coffee and ice cream!

The top reader supporting each department will also receive an unforgettable grand prize: a ride to school (from the library) in a department-approved police or fire vehicle.

Whether kids read independently, listen to an audiobook, enjoy a graphic novel, or have someone read aloud to them, every 20-minute block helps their chosen team move closer to victory.

Want to sign-up? Stop in or contact the Chilton Public Library.

(Ride to school is available to kids attending a Chilton school)

WELCOME BACK!!!
The first day of school is here! Chilton Police Department would like to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year!

As everyone settles back into the school year routine, remember to slow down, stay alert, watch for kids, and stop for school buses with flashing red lights (it’s the law). A little extra patience on the road can make a big difference.

To our students: work hard, make good choices, look out for one another, and have a fantastic year!

****Meadia Release-Structure Fire****

The Chilton Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Randolph Street on Wednesday, 8/5/2026 at approximately 16:49 hours for a possible structure fire, with smoke coming from the rear of the home. MABAS Box Card 109-1-1 was requested to the Working Still. The first due company arrived to find fire on the exterior wall of the home with extension into the attic. Crews completed a quick knock-down with extensive overhaul inside the structure. All occupants were able to safely exit the structure prior to our arrival, with no injuries reported. While the cause is still under investigation, a dollar estimate is not available at this time. The property owner is being assisted by the American Red Cross and Kelmann Restoration. We'd like to thank the Calumet County Sheriff's Office, Chilton Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Hilbert Volunteer Fire Department, New Holstein Fire Department, Potter Fire Department, and Stockbridge Fire Department for their assistance this afternoon.
