Calumet County 4-H

Calumet County 4-H Calumet County 4-H is a program of the Calumet County University of Wisconsin-Extension. 4-H serves as a catalyst for positive community youth development.

4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H is about having fun, learning, exploring and discovering. In 4-H, young people make new friends, develop new skills, become leaders and help shape their communities. The Wisconsin 4-H program was founded in 1914. Today about 50,000 Wisconsin youth are enrolled members of 4-H clubs in Wis

consin. Another 195,000 Wisconsin youth get involved in 4-H through special educational opportunities at school, in after school programs, or at neighborhood or youth centers. These youth live in cities, suburbs, small towns and rural communities.

4-H in Calumet County began as corn clubs in 1918 with the first 4-H community Club (Sherwood Wide Awake) being founded in 1931. Today we have sixteen 4-H Community Clubs, approximately 380 youth members, and about 150 adult volunteers. In addition to the community club program, Calumet County 4-H also offers youth leadership opportunities through community programs, school programs, and after school programs.

We’re down to the final countdown! Registration will stay open through Friday, because we truly don’t want any youth to miss out on these fun, hands-on day camp experiences. 💚

This summer is shaping up to be AMAZING...99 youth have already signed up (including 18 who are brand new to 4-H 🎉), and we can’t wait to learn, explore, and have fun together!

There’s still time to grab a spot in a few of our camps:
🎨 Clover Canvas: Art Lab
Get creative with watercolor and paper mosaics as you explore fun new art techniques, then top off your day with a little cupcake‑decorating fun!

🌱 Cloverbud Day Camp
Cloverbuds will enjoy group games, an intro to shooting sports with rubber band guns, tie‑dye, nature exploration, water games, STEM activities, and so much more. We’ll spend lots of time outside (weather permitting!) having adventures together.

🧭 Adventure Day Camp (Grades 3–8)
Campers will jump into action with group games, archery, tie‑dye, nature fun, water games, STEM challenges, and more! Most of the day will be spent outside exploring, playing, and making new friends.

Tonight our two Youth in Governance (YiG) participants, Ariana & Mckenna , presented to the Calumet County Board to share about their last year in the program as Youth Representatives on the Health & Human Services Board. I also enjoyed their insights into how we can grow the program, recruit more youth, and add additional opportunities in the program.

Thank you ladies for your commitment to the program!

And that’s a wrap on the Food Workshops this year!

Today was Advanced cheesecakes, and all our groups had recipes that either had multiple layers or a special topping. We discussed and used water baths, discussion the appropriate ways to cool a cheesecake and take it out of the springform pan.

I hope to see some of your delicious creations at the fair this year!
