A little extra time goes a long way!

As we get back into the school-year routine, please plan for some extra traffic and possible delays on the way to school. With the Ness' Corner Road closure, continued summer visitor traffic, and new school start times, we are seeing more volume than usual.

Give yourself a few extra minutes, take it slow, and watch for buses, students, and families. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we settle into our new routines!

This project removes and replaces several outdated culverts under US 101 and State Route 116 at Lees, Ennis, Tumwater and Chimacum Creeks. Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has identified these sites as barriers to salmon migration and other resident fish species. WSDOT will replace o...

Saddle up, Chimacum—school starts Monday!

That means our school zones, sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops will be busy again! Please slow down, stay alert, and give our students and buses a little extra room.

A few good back-to-school trail rules:
🐎 Slow down in school zones
👀 Watch carefully for kids walking and biking
🚌 Stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign out
❤️ Give yourself a few extra minutes and bring a little patience

We’re excited to welcome our students back Monday. Let’s help everyone get to school—and home again—safe and sound.

Happy trails and safe travels, Chimacum!

We are partnering with the YMCA of the Olympic Peninsula to launch a new after-school childcare program here at Chimacum Creek Primary School! This partnership will expand opportunities for our families and provide a high-quality, engaging, and supportive environment for students after the school day, five days a week!

The YMCA will be at Cowboy Day today to answer any questions and enroll interested families. Visit them at Chimacum Creek Primary between 2-3:30 PM or Chimacum Elementary School between 3:30-5:00 PM.

Families can also complete an interest form, ask questions, and receive updates here:

Whoa there, partner! See that school bus stop sign? That means STOP.

School starts Monday, August 31, and our buses will be back on the roads carrying some pretty important cargo—our Chimacum students!

Washington drivers illegally passed stopped school buses 960 times in just one day during this year’s statewide survey. Besides putting kids at risk, illegally passing a stopped school bus comes with a mandatory $500 fine.

So, as we head back to school:
⭐ Slow your roll.
⭐ Keep an eye out for kids.
⭐ When the bus lights flash red, stop and stay stopped.
⭐ Leave a little extra time for your morning commute.

Let’s make our first week back a safe one. Be patient. Be alert. Be a good neighbor out there on the trail.

Our staff are back at it—learning, connecting, and working hard to get ready to welcome our students!

We’re starting the year grounded in a few big ideas: inclusion matters, children come first, and every student deserves to be known, valued, and supported. We’re learning together, challenging ourselves, and getting ready to BE RAD for our kids and community.

We can’t wait to have our students back in Chimacum Schools! 💙💛
