The Township is aware of the hornet nest located along the man-made path leading to the stream. Please note that these paths were neither created nor are they maintained by Township staff. They are part of the park's natural wildlife areas.

To help ensure public safety, we have temporarily closed access to this path after learning that visitors continue to leave the maintained walking trail and enter these unmaintained areas, placing themselves at risk.

If you choose to access the stream, please do so only from a cleared area with a clear line of sight. Keep in mind that these natural areas are home to wildlife, including snakes, insects, and other animals. Visitors are encouraged to use caution at all times and remain on designated trails whenever possible.

We hope everyone is enjoying South Abington Park and all it has to offer!

As a reminder, the paved walking path was created and is maintained by South Abington Township. While there are several dirt trails branching off the paved path, these areas are not maintained by Township staff. They are natural habitats for native plants, wildlife, and insects, including bees, snakes, and bears.

For your safety, we encourage all visitors to use caution if venturing off the maintained walking path and into these natural areas.
