Havre Historic Tours and More is offering tours of Calvary and Highland Cemeteries Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m., weather permitting. Fort Assinniboine- Havre offers tours of the largest military post west of the Mississippi River. The tour covers military, Indigenous and civilian history. Tours are 10-5 Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 on Sunday. Call 406-399-5225 for more information.
Havre Beneath the Streets is an exciting tour of Havre's underground past! This hour long tour is chock-full of history. Please call 406-265-8888 for more information. Don't forget to check out the Frank DeRosa Memorial Railroad Museum, operated by the Pacific Junction Model Railroad Club, in the same building, 120 Third Avenue.
The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum showcases Havre history from dinosaurs to World War II. Located at 2 Fifth Avenue in Old Downtown Havre, Montana. Call 406-265-4000 for more information.
Friends of Wahkpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump is a 2,000 year old bison kill and processing site located behind the Holiday Village Mall. This is a fantastic tour that features the ways our Indigenous people survived on the vast Montana prairie. Call 406-265-4000 for more information.
The The Louis & Antoinette Hagener Museum of the Northern Great Plains Indians is a fantastic little museum on the campus of MSU-Northern featuring Indigenous artifacts. This museum is a must-see. It's located in the VandeBogart Library and is free of charge. Hours for the summer are Monday through Friday 8-5, so if you want to see these great artifacts, today is the day to go!
Want some real excitement? Rocky Boy Buffalo Project/Buffalo Child Ranch offers tours of their buffalo herd, and you can learn about the Chippewa-Cree in their own words. Please check out their page for more information!
For the children, check out the Play to Learn Center in the old Buttrey Annex on the 200 block of Second Street, across from Altana Federal Credit Union. Please call 406-400-2590 for hours and other pertinent information.
If you don't mind driving, Chinook has two museums, the Blaine County Wildlife Museum and the Blaine County Museum, which is has a video of the Battle of the Bear Paws, located 16 miles south of the quaint town of Chinook.
Rudyard, located about 45 minutes to the west of Havre, has 3 museums for you to enjoy-the Rudyard Depot Museum, their Dinosaur Museum, and an old Automobile Museum!
