📸 Cool Cop Polar Patrol Hits the Books (and the Ice Cream) at Kate M. Smith Elementary!

This week our Polar Patrol team had a great time visiting Kate M. Smith Elementary School’s summer program. We got to hang out with the kids, share some laughs, and hand out ice cream treats on a hot Florida day.

A big thank you to the school for the invitation — we truly enjoyed every minute of it.

🚔🍦 Cool Cop Polar Patrol Update!

The response so far has been fantastic — the kids are loving it… and we’ve noticed the adults are enjoying a cool treat too! 😉

We’re excited to announce our first scheduled patrol:

Saturday, July 4th • 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
East of Hwy 77 —See Map of Area

We’ll also be in and out of other neighborhoods throughout the week as time permits.

Step outside, say hello, meet the officers, and grab a cool treat!

🚓🍦 Cool Cop Polar Patrol Launches Today!

We’re excited to officially launch our new summer community outreach program — the Cool Cop Polar Patrol!

Over the past week, we’ve been quietly testing the program and have received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. Because of that, we’re proud to introduce it to everyone this afternoon at the Watermelon Festival Concert.

We will be set up at our usual location — the east entrance off Rustin Drive — and will be handing out free popsicles and ice cream to children as our duties permit, until our supply runs out.

Moving forward, we’ll be visiting different areas of Chipley each week. While we’ll announce a scheduled date, time, and location for next week soon, we’ll also continue randomly selecting neighborhoods throughout the week and handing out treats as our time and duties allow.

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of smiles and spending time with our community in a fun, positive way. Keep an eye on this page — we’ll post next week’s scheduled stop soon!

Chipley Police Department Advisory

We want to let you know that the Chipley Police Department and City Hall are currently experiencing technical issues with some of our systems. We are also having phone troubles at this time. These disruptions are due to a widespread outage in the area.

Our team is actively working to resolve these problems as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we get everything back up and running smoothly.

If you have an emergency, please continue to dial 911 as always.

We’re proud to announce an important step forward for the Chipley Police Department and our community.

To ensure strong, consistent leadership is available on every shift, we have added two new supervisor positions. This change means residents will have a Sergeant or Corporal on patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The result is faster decision-making in the field, stronger mentoring for our officers, improved coordination, and better overall service and safety for our community.

As part of this restructuring:
- Cpl. Holley has been promoted to Sergeant
- K-9 Officer Foster has been promoted to Corporal
- Officer Kent has been promoted to Corporal
- Investigator Williams has been promoted to Captain
- We are also pleased to welcome Investigator Samuel Taylor to the department

Congratulations to each of them on their well-deserved promotions! These five supervisors bring nearly 70 years of combined law enforcement experience. We’re equally excited about the talented young patrol officers who continue to show great potential and dedication every day. Their growth and development are key to the strong future of this department.

We’re committed to building a stronger, more effective department that puts officer safety, mentoring, and community needs first. Changes like this help us deliver the professional, responsive policing you deserve.

Thank you to our City Council and administration for supporting this important upgrade. And thank you to all our officers — new and veteran — for their continued hard work and commitment to excellence.
