🚨 SCAM ALERT! 🚨We received a suspicious phone call today claiming that there were “unclaimed grocery benefits” available through Medicare, and we want to make sure our community is aware.

Some Medicare Advantage plans DO offer legitimate grocery and supplemental benefits. The concern is an unsolicited caller asking for your information or claiming you have benefits waiting to be claimed.

What made this call especially concerning was that it appeared to come from a LOCAL 850 number. Please remember, scammers can “spoof” Caller ID, making a call appear to come from a local number when it actually does not.

If you receive an unexpected call about “unclaimed grocery benefits,” a Medicare food card, grocery allowance, flex card, or other benefit:

📞 HANG UP.
🚫 Do not give them your Medicare number.
🚫 Do not provide your Social Security number, banking information, or other personal information.

✅ If you think the benefit may be legitimate, call the customer service number on the back of YOUR insurance card and ask them directly.

Friends, please talk to your parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends about these calls. They can sound convincing, and seeing a familiar local area code can make them seem trustworthy.

When in doubt, HANG UP and verify it yourself.

❤️ Please share. A simple warning could help protect someone in our community.
