June is National Safety Month, a reminder that preparation matters both on and off the road.

As summer travel increases and hurricane season begins, now is a good time to check the emergency supplies in your vehicle.

Consider keeping these essentials in your vehicle:

โ€ข Flashlight and extra batteries.
โ€ข Jumper cables.
โ€ข First aid kit.
โ€ข Drinking water and nonperishable snacks.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

In recognition of the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the Florida Department of Transportation has suspended lane closures on state highways from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25.

Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 90, from Escambia River Bridge to Woodbine Road, Tuesday, May 26 through Thursday, May 28, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., for guardrail installation. Additionally, the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph through the work zone.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
