FUNDHOLDER HIGHLIGHT:
Sloane Brehmer was bright and joyful, and had a delightful, independent spirit. The second child of Dan and Dana Brehmer, her parents recall her running to the door to greet her daddy when he returned home from work.

She was barely a toddler when she unexpectedly passed away in September of 2007 from complications of Meckel's Diverticulum, a rare congenital disease. The rarity of passing from this condition was heartbreaking and The Sloane J. Brehmer Endowment Fund was established by her grandparents, Tom and Jean Hebert, as a loving legacy that will live on in her sweet name.

Grants from the Sloane J. Brehmer Endowment Fund are designated to make a difference in the lives of children in the community through the Family Support Center and Landmark Christian Church, both in Chippewa Falls.

FUNDHOLDER HIGHLIGHT:
The Chippewa Area History Center opened in early 2023 and quickly became a local gem. It is more than a place to explore the past; it’s a community treasure that brings local stories, people and history to life. Through the Chippewa Area History Center Endowment Fund, Bob Hogseth and Clancy Hatleberg are helping ensure this special community asset continues to thrive for generations to come.

"We knew this wonderful, new, non-profit community jewel would need continual financial support," said Bob Hogseth, a founding member and past board president of the Community Foundation, and current History Center board member.

The Chippewa Area History Center Endowment Fund, is a Designated Fund that was established to support the Chippewa Area History Center. Gifts to the Fund support gallery exhibits, archives, the genealogy library, theater, educational programs, maintenance and future innovations for community enjoyment.

From a Foundation Fundholder:
"Sherry and I established an endowment fund in 2024 to become part of the CFCC “family.” We are so thankful for the foundation for providing an extraordinary impact throughout Chippewa County as well as providing an opportunity for us to be part of that impact through philanthropy. The CFCC embodies the famous Helen Keller quote, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” The CFCC truly is collective action!"

FUNDHOLDER HIGHLIGHT:
John and Mary Hofkes believe in giving back to the community that has blessed them and their children in countless ways. In 2008, they established the John and Mary Hofkes Family Endowment Fund to support causes that matter deeply to them, both during their lifetime and for generations to come.

"We felt very strongly about giving our children the chance to see where the money goes and to demonstrate how you can leave a legacy and a lasting impact on the community at the same time," said John. "It's heartwarming to see how many people have stepped up to give to the Foundation with legacy gifts that will go on to help others. It's quite impressive for a community this size."

The John and Mary Hofkes Family Endowment Fund is a Donor Advised Fund that allows the fundholders to annually recommend charitable grants each year.

HEALTHY CHIPPEWA COUNTY FUND
Grant Recipient: Aspirus Health

"We are honored to receive support from the Community Foundation of Chippewa County through its inaugural Healthy Chippewa County Grant Cycle,” said Anne Sadowska, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus WI Northwest Division. “As we prepare to open Aspirus Chippewa Falls Hospital in September, this investment—along with additional support from Aspirus Health Foundation—will help ensure our teams have the tools and technology needed to deliver exceptional care from day one. Thanks to this generosity, access to this advanced equipment will strengthen our Emergency Department’s ability to provide lifesaving care when it’s needed most."

"I had the privilege of serving on the Board of the Chippewa County Community Foundation several years ago. When I was first asked, I was hesitant as I was "Too Busy". Thankfully, for me, I said yes, as it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Not long after that, my wife Betty and I decided to create a family endowment. Seeing where the monies from other endowments were going to, year after year and into perpetuity, made this decision easy. The way the CCCF was structured also made it easy, as the threshold for a fund is not a Kings ransom. We saw so many examples of folks wanting to leave something beyond their lifetimes, many just wanting to say thank you in a way to our great community and the life they treasured here. We are truly blessed to have a Community Foundation that rivals those of much larger cities. Started by a handful of dedicated citizens years ago, and managed with a passion to grow and compassion for giving, FOREVER!"
