Michael Burton has spent his lift doing what many of us hope we will do when we are in need and during times like these where he now needs to be served and protected. For years, Michael has faithfully served his community both as a police officer and an EMT dedicating countless hours to helping others during their most difficulty moments. Whether responding to emergencies, protecting his community, or offering a steady hand in a crisis, Michael has always answered the call with courage and compassion.
Recently, Michael received life changing news: he has been diagnosed with leukemia. As he begins the challenging and courageous journey of treatment and recovery, the man who has spent his life helping others finds himself in need of support.
Michael's greatest pride and strength come from his family. He is a devoted husband to his loving wife and a proud father to his children. Everything he has done for Volusia County Sheriffs Office and Prisma Health , every long shift, every late-night call, every act of service to those entrusted to his care, has been rooted in his desire to provide for and protect the people he loves the most.
Those who know Michael also know his heart for others. He has always been open-handed and been the first to step in when a friend or neighbor was struggling, offering help without hesitation and never expecting anything in return. His generosity, loyalty, and servants' heart have touched many in our own organization.
Now it's our turn to show up for Michael. The road ahead will include medical treatments, time away from work, and significant financial burden for Michael and his family. Your support whether through donations to his go fund me, purchasing a Burtons Battle Buddy T shirt (if you have designs considerations, please send them so me or other UBC memers) that you will be able to wear on shift (per Liz on days he has treatment), a prayer or sharing the donations pages on your social media will help Michael focus on treatment and fighting this illness. Michael has spent his life serving and protecting others. Let's come together as a community to serve and support him in his time of need.
