Good evening, CMS families—this is Principal Lauren Johnson with your weekly update for the week of August 31st. We have enjoyed having all of our scholars back in the building this week and look forward to week 2 at CMS!
On Monday (8/31), we will continue settling into our school routines and expectations. Our schoolwide vocabulary words for this week are: Infer, Represent, Classify, Context. Please review these with your scholar!
On Tuesday (9/1), Distinguished Men of Purpose will hold an interest meeting from 7:30–8:00 a.m. Students will also begin their i-Ready BOY Reading Diagnostic, please help your scholar do their best by getting a good night’s sleep, arriving on time, and eating breakfast. We will host a Parent/Student Athletic Meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the CMS Gym. This meeting is open to anyone interested in sports this year and is required for our fall athletes.
On Wednesday (9/2), students will complete the i-Ready BOY Math Diagnostic.
On Friday (9/4), it’s a House Spirit Day—students should wear their House shirt or House color—and the House Store will be open during lunch.
A few reminders for the week: In the mornings, if your child rides the bus, please make sure they are at the bus stop and ready 10 min prior to pick-up. If you have bus changes, please contact Mr. Bailey by noon. In the mornings at drop off, please pull all the way down to the end of the pick-up line before letting your scholar out of the car. Please do not stop at the sidewalk ramp as this causes traffic to back up.
Also, Monday, September 7th is Labor Day, so there will be no school.

Monday, 8/31: Volleyball HOME — 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 9/2: Football Jamboree — 5:00 p.m.
