Congratulations to all of the Beaufort County Schools retirees! CMS would like to give a special shoutout to three very special individuals.

Mrs. Petty began her career teaching math at Chocowinity High School (now CMS) before transitioning to Southside High School. Throughout her career, she has inspired countless students—many of whom have gone on to become educators themselves. She has played an important role in the educational journey of generations of CMS scholars.

Mrs. Mills also taught at Chocowinity High School and continued her service to students by working with many of our homebound learners. Her dedication ensured that students received the support and instruction they needed, regardless of their circumstances.

Mr. Milton has faithfully served CMS through the maintenance department for many years. His commitment to our school goes far beyond his job description, especially when he stepped up to support our custodial team during a staffing shortage last summer. His willingness to help wherever needed has made a lasting difference.

Thank you for being a part of the !

We are so appreciative for all Mr. Cannon does at CMS and especially for our DMOP!

Hello CMS families—this is Principal Lauren Johnson with your weekly update for the week of June 1st.

On Monday (6/1) we will begin EOG retesting for all grades, please understand that our school performance goal depends on all students retesting if they have been recommended--we need everyone to do their part! Please support our school!
Also on Monday, 8th grade moving up tickets will go home (only 4 tickets per student, 2 per marshal allowed due to fire code). If you are in need of more tickets, please call the front office to get on the waiting list. We will be having moving up practice all week.

On Tuesday (6/2), EOG retesting continues. Our House Champions for the year will have a party. Don’t forget to send in the permission form for Camp Boddie field trip, I will let students know and send a message to confirm us attending camp once I check scores and review if we have met our goal.

On Wednesday (6/3), is the Camp Boddie field trip if we meet our goal, from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Waivers MUST be signed—we will not be able to accept parent permission over the phone. If students don’t have permission. Students should bring sunscreen, a towel, an extra set of dry clothes, a water bottle, snacks, games/cards, and balls to throw or play with (basketball, football, etc.). Phones are allowed at their own risk. If your scholar would like to fish, he or she may also bring a fishing pole and bait. Parents are welcome to meet us there. 🙂

On Thursday (6/4), report cards go home, and we will host Awards Day in the CMS gym: 5th grade at 9:30, 6th grade at 12:00, and 7th grade at 1:30. That evening, the 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony will be held in the CMS gym at 6:00 p.m. Please be on time, the doors will shut at 6:00 p.m. as students enter the gym. Marshals and 8th graders should arrive by 5:30 for line-up.

On Friday (6/5), it is the last day of school with an early release at 11:45. We will have our annual fun day outside all morning. Some will be water games. Please plan to bring a change of clothes and a towel, no bathing suits! We’ll have Tom’s Coffee and Kona Ice on campus (pay at the truck tap/cash).

This week in sports:
Mon 6/1 & Tues 6/2: Cheer Tryouts (Rising 6–8) — 2:45–5:00 p.m., a valid physical is required to tryout.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Enjoy the rest of your evening!
