Today the Oklahoma County Commissioners voted to extend the burn ban. We fully support this decision.

As long as the heat and drought continue this will likely remain in tact.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Choctaw and surrounding areas safe by following the ban.

No open burning is permitted but the use of an approved grill for outdoor cooking is allowed with extreme attention and caution given.

We know this is an inconvenience for some but thank you for doing your part to keep everyone safe!

Happy Monday, Choctaw!

Our crews were crazy busy over the weekend assisting our neighboring towns with numerous fire calls. All while staying busy right here in Choctaw.

Shout out to our friends at Harrah Fire Department Newalla Fire Department and Nicoma Park Fire Department for your hard work in getting multiple fires controlled and even working two house fires at the same time.

Thank you to our friends at Hickory Hills Fire Protection District #1 who were a tremendous blessing with providing ice, water and Gatorade and manpower during the craziness as well!

We are always happy to assist and especially during the extreme heat.

As we prepare for a new week, please stay hydrated and check on each other often.

We are here when you need us!

Notice: Burn ban extended!

Due to the current conditions and extreme heat, the Oklahoma County Commissioners have extended the burn ban for an additional 14 days.

No open burning will be permitted. Please make sure anything that could spark and start a fire (welders, chains, cigarette buds, or anything else) are carefully discarded or watched to prevent a fire from starting.

Today, the Oklahoma County Commissioners enacted a 14 day burn ban for Oklahoma County. This means no open burning is permitted.

The use of outdoor cooking devices is still permitted but with extreme caution.

Very hot temperatures, gusty winds and very dry vegetation have kept us busy lately.

Several controlled burn piles have quickly got out of control turning into tense situations.

Please call our non-emergency line (405-390-8300) and select option #1 before burning to see if it is an authorized burn day.

With the heat, wind and humidity constantly changing, please do not assume it is a burn day.
