Last week we were able to celebrate the retirement of Captain Donnie Lewis!

Captain Lewis has over 30 years of fire service and over 23 years with Choctaw Fire. He kept us laughing and was always up to something… a TikTok video, or an AI generated video that was “if it’s true, that’s pretty cool”. We will miss you being around, so don’t be a stranger!

We appreciate your service and wish you all the best in your retirement!

Congrats, Cap!

Big shout out to American Legion Post 127 Choctaw, OK for nominating us as a recognition of our public service!

Thanks to the nomination, we were awarded some hydration packets from LMNT!

This will help our crews stay hydrated while working and training in the heat and humidity, and we greatly appreciate the support!

We love our community!

Firework Information:

With the passage of the Rockets' Red Glare Act, we wanted to remind everyone of our city's ordinance:

The act, which was signed by Governor Stitt in May, applies only to private property in unincorporated areas of the state and gives cities the authority to regulate fireworks within their city limits.

The City of Choctaw's ordinance is:

As of May 2019, City Ordinance 712, Section 1, Section 9-607 states the following:
*No fireworks shall be discharged, exploded or ignited within five hundred feet of any firework stand, church, hospital, asylum, unharvested flammable agricultural crops, public school, or public property.

*Fireworks are to be discharged on July 1 through July 5 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM on private property, and July 4 only, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:30 PM unless the 4th falls on a Monday - Thursday or Sunday, in which the hours revert to 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM.

*Consumer must have written permission from property owner to discharge fireworks upon private property from July 1 through July 5.

*In the event of a county-wide or state-wide burn ban, the City Council gives authority to the Fire Chief to place additional restrictions on the discharge of fireworks as he deems appropriate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our desire is for everyone to have a fun but safe celebration so please follow the ordinance.

As always if you have questions feel free to give us a call.
