Professional public service for all. POLICE DEPARTMENT - OUR MISSION:

The mission of the Choctaw Police Department is to improve the quality of life of citizens, living, working, or visiting our city. We believe as Law Enforcement officers, our fundamental duty is to serve mankind: to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidat

ion, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional Rights of all persons to liberty, equality, and justice. We believe that it is our responsibility to protect the constitutional rights of all persons and that we are accountable to the community. We believe that crime is not only a police problem but a social problem impacting all aspects of the community and we are committed to working with the community to address these issues. SETTING AN EXAMPLE:

We will keep our private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn, or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both our personal and official life. We will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of our department. We recognize the badge of our office as a symbol of public faith, and we accept it as a public trust to be held so long as we are true to the ethics of law enforcement. We will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating ourselves to our chosen profession: law enforcement. Community Guidelines:

Welcome home, Officer Hopkins and Officer Kight!

Both of these guys just got back after a full year deployed to the Middle East together in the same unit. Also welcoming back Firefighter Rhoades from Harrah Fire, who deployed right alongside them.

A year away from family, friends, and home is no small thing. We’re grateful for their service and glad to have all three of them back safe. Welcome home — Harrah is proud of you.

🚌 BACK TO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK 🚌

As we prepare to welcome students back to class on August 18th, the Choctaw Police Department would like to remind everyone that school zone speed limits will soon be back in effect. With multiple schools within our jurisdiction, increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic is expected around our campuses each morning and afternoon. That means it’s time to slow down, stay alert, and put safety first.

Under Oklahoma law (Title 47 §11-806.1), all drivers are required to obey reduced speed limits in properly marked school zones during posted hours or when children are present. These laws are in place to protect our most vulnerable residents, our kids. Speeding in a school zone not only puts lives at risk but also carries double the fines for violations. Officers will be actively patrolling these areas to ensure the safety of students, school staff, and families.

As you drive through Choctaw in the coming weeks, please keep an eye out for flashing school zone signs, crossing guards, school buses, and young children who may be crossing the street, sometimes unexpectedly. Your patience and attention behind the wheel can make a real difference.

Let’s work together to make this school year a safe one. On behalf of the Choctaw Police Department, thank you for helping us protect our community’s children. Slow down. Stay alert. And let’s all do our part to keep school zones safe.
